So just over 100 games over 8 years across Barca, Juve and Seville.

That's a pretty shoddy record.

Didn't we learn after the Hernandez fiasco. Club looking like an absolute joke.

How was Hernandez a fiasco?

And how is his situation in any form or shape similar to Caceres'?

We signed the guy on a free and even made some profit on the sale to Malaga!

I'd like to see him given a real chance personally.

I would to. Just not at our club.

It's really hard to find a good CB who's happy to sit on the bench. Hernandez wasn't that great but even he didn't want to!! Is he any better than Hernandez... that's the sort of question we need to be asking..

This guy might be just the kind of signing that surprises people. Under the radar, experienced but with no massive expectations. We give our cb's quite simple instructions and apart from the end of this season, our physios and medical team have done an outstanding job keeping these guys fit. He was class for Juve and his national team so why can't we be the club for him to find his form like so many other players have?

A career average of 19 games a season made up of three seasons where he bumped it up. Seven other seasons average of 14 games. A 30yo with a bad injury record is not what we need. Then take into account his 100k a week.

It's a big fat NO from me.

If we did sign him it's clear to me that he would be a replacement for Was and nothing more, why are people panicking like it's the final day of the transfer window?

Cáceres returned to the starting line-up on 8 August 2015, in Juventus's 2–0 victory over Lazio in the Supercoppa Italiana.[24][25] In late September, however, he had his driving license revoked for six months and was suspended by the club after crashing his Ferrari into a bus stop in Turin following a wrong turn. He is alleged to have been over the legal alcohol limit for driving.

If he is the only centre half that we sign this summer then I'll be very disappointed. But if he is signed just as a squad player and he's out of contract then I'm not going to complain as long as we bring in a younger CB of the right quality.

I really do love some of our fans on this forum. A centre back who's played at huge European giants for the majority of his career and been a regular representative of his national team. Yet because he's had an injury record it's a no for us?

Great free signing IMO

I'm not sure how a young Hernandez relates to a 30yo crock.

Young Hernandez? He's 28? 2 years difference between the players?

He must be a quality performer to include Juve and Barca on his CV.

But the number of appearances he's made in recent seasons and the fact he struggled for fitness at Southampton suggests this could be a bad move. One thing you need to be to play for Leicester is fit.

(The GTF era was a few seasons ago now lol)

Don't wish to write the guy off as he's a talented player - you don't play for Barcelona, Sevilla and Juventus, get nearly 70 international caps for Uruguay or even get a PL contract coming back from a serious injury if you've not got something about you - but Southampton releasing him is ringing alarm bells for me. If they didn't think he had enough for PL with a long look at him in First Team training and Dev Squad games, then this represents a gamble for us in a position we cannot afford to gamble.

He's also completely different to our other recent freebies like Fuchs, Albrighton, Hernandez etc as they didn't arrive with serious injury problems. Too much of a gamble.

5ft 11?

No ta.

The best centre half in the league is 5 foot 8.

Exceptions to every rule.

Would Robert Huth or Wes Morgan be as good if they were 5ft 8?

I'm not against shorter centre backs as long as there is enough physicality through the rest of the team.

But there isn't.

The bloke is reported to be on £100k a week , some replacement

How is he on £100k if he has been released?
