Had a proper Saturday tea today and had burgers. Got me thinking what's the best burger possible? So I made a poll with lots of options asking how would you make the ultimate burger! Enjoy.

If it's a good bit of meat it doesn't need much else. Can't be doing with these monstrous things that look like something from Alien where you can barely taste the meat.

Beef burger - Swiss cheese, fried onions. Can go for a bit of mushroom, onion rings on the side.

Simple is great, but if you're adding more then add more meat.

You in the right thread, this is the burger thread not the cocking thread?

Brioche bun, big slab of rare beef, a bit of mozzerella, a rasher of smoked bacon and relish.

Perfection.

Add a slice of tomato and I'm with you.

If I'm barbequing, then it's brioche(/sugar doughnut), plain beef, plastic cheese*, ketchup

My favourite staple burger is the XL Bacon Double Cheese at Burger King. Just two burgers, bacon and American cheese and it's brilliant. Normally I like raw onions, gherkins and mayonnaise**/burger sauce if I'm eating elsewhere

The best burgers I've had recently were surprisingly Hope and Anchor in Syston (they must be under new management as the food used to be terrible but is now very good), Burger King in Phuket (Whopper, far tastier than we have here for whatever reason) and Byron in Leicester. Went Crafty a couple of weeks ago after hearing everyone rave about it, the beefburger itself wasn't bad but they use such flimsy bread and with it being cooked rare, the juice and all the slop they put in the burger meant the whole thing fell to pieces after a few bites and I had to knive-and-fork it which was a pain in the arse (plus their chips are proper garbage)

*As much as I love proper strong cheddar, mild cheeses are best for a burger mainly for the texture. A good burger should have beef as the main flavour

**Where the hell do you get a decent mayonnaise? Any one I've ever bought in a shop never tastes nice like any decent mayonnaise in any restaurant or fastfood joint.

Best burger I've ever had was in a restaurant called George's in Waco. Half pounder, strips of bacon, fried gherkins and onions, sweet brioche bun, American cheese, burger sauce and BBQ sauce.

My old uni (15 years ago) had something called the Mighty Feast Burger. The recipe slightly changed over my time there but originally it was a double quarter pounder, fried egg, pineapple (that came out in later iterations but was surprisingly great), bacon and cheese. Awesome, awesome burger. Best ever in fact. Far too many were consumed!

I remember the Diamond Burger at Rushden and Diamonds. That was good. Also shout out to the burgers at King's Lynn FC, very good, and as they start frying 10 minutes before half time the whole pitched gets shrouded in smoke like a Belgrade derby.
