Popular Post Lizhang Posted 28 September 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 28 September 2019 (edited) Hardfought game (as are all of our games lately) but we we keep winning them, ultimately. Still think something needs to change in terms of creativity, because we won't be getting away with it indefinitely. Posession was 70%-30%. Chances created was even worse. Basically, we get two chances and we score twice. They get 20 chances, but need a penalty to score. Still, we were pinned against our own goal for most of the match. Still missing our best center back (and his best stand-in). Kamal Sowah has played some great games the first month, but the last 3 weeks his form has taken a nosedive. (Though he's not the only one). Edited 29 September 2019 by Lizhang 6

brucey Posted 30 September 2019 Share Posted 30 September 2019 (edited) Interestingly Josh Eppiah has started following the official OHL and Belgian FA accounts on Instagram, and liked a few recent OHL posts. Hinting at a loan in Jan once he’s back fully fit maybe? Are OHL short of strikers? Edited 30 September 2019 by brucey

I’m not sure he’s quite what OHL need at the moment for a promotion push? It’s hard to gauge the relative levels of the U23s vs Belgian second tier, but Hirst has probably been our U23s best player since returning... Even though I've never seen this guys play and have absolutely no idea what his level or potential is, I can't see him having an impact on our squad. We already have 3 strikers, so I doubt he would get any playing time. Apparently he's coming back from a severe injury, so I guess it's best for him to stay at Leicester, where he can pick up his career.

I just realised Eppiah's actually Belgian, although he's grown up in England, so that might be why. He probably just picked up an interest in how OHL's doing like the rest of us here.
lfu Posted 3 October 2019 Share Posted 3 October 2019 Leuven's Sports Advisor Frank Vercauteren has been appointed Anderlecht's new manager replacing the Kompany/Davies(ex-Man City youth coach) structure (although Kompany might still be head coach off of the pitch). According to the OHL fans here, Vercauteren was the tactical brains to their manager Vincent Euvrard and seemingly the one really in charge, but also had a reputation for being an opportunist, so despite signing a new contract a few months ago, him leaving wasn't an unforseen circumstance. It might put a bit of dent in Leuven's promotion campaign considering their performances (despite still racking up the wins) having lost some steam recently.
Bonanza Posted 3 October 2019 Share Posted 3 October 2019 (edited) We've just lost one of our managers, Frank Vercauteren, to Anderlecht. Vincent Kompany was the player/manager of Anderlecht this season, with Simon Davies as his right-hand man. Kompany wanted to play the same kind of football as Manchester City does while also playing a lot of youth players. Anderlecht currently is sitting in 13th position (out of 16 teams) with only 6 points out of 9 games. Vercauteren will be the new manager, while Davies get demoted to trainer. Kompany will stay on as assistent-manager/player. Edited 3 October 2019 by Bonanza
Lizhang Posted 5 October 2019 Share Posted 5 October 2019 (edited) Well, we only had 3 goals scored against until today. Today, we doubled that number. First match after Vercauteren is out. Whether or not this is a coinkidink </Ned Flanders> or not, it certainly won't be good for Euvrard's esteem. A 2-3 loss at home, and we'll have to wait for tomorrow's game to see if we can still stay on top. Edited 5 October 2019 by Lizhang

And I've completely forgotten what coming top in that means As each period consists of 14 games, we still have 5 games left in the 1st period. The winner of the 1st period has a spot in the final to play for promotion. At the start of the 2nd period all teams start over with 0 points and play another 14 games. The winner of the second period faces the winner of the 1st period in the final. The final consists of a home and away game and the winner of this encounter wins the league and wins promotion to the 1st division. If the winner of the 1st period also won the 2nd period, they automatical win the league and promotion. There's also an overall standings which combines both periods. At the end of the season the 2 bottom teams (7 and 8) play a best-of-5 series to decide which team relegates to the amateur division.

sacreblueits442 Posted 12 October 2019 Share Posted 12 October 2019 ...they looked woeful!!! They looked like they had never played the game before. I can not believe the team that started this season has turned out to be so poor. A New manager is required urgently otherwise what looked like a romp to the next tier has turned out to be a nightmare!!!!
