Huth not in the Hong Kong squad

Can't really remember us looking decent without Huth, bar the Everton game when we'd won the league (Premier ?) and they had nothing to play for. Evans looking more and more vital to me.

There's deathly silence from the club.

It takes four days for news from the training ground a mile away to get on the OS.

Do you realise how far Hong Kong is? lollol

Someone find the quotes after mendy's first op last autumn!

The search for another central defender likely stepped up over a week ago. Shakey also quoted that they feared would be worse and the prognosis is better than expected. trying to avoid paying that extra few million on evans' price!

Robert Huth: Ankle Surgery Sidelines Defender

Leicester City defender Robert Huth will miss the start of the Premier League season after undergoing minor ankle surgery.

- Leicester City defender Robert Huth undergoes ankle surgery
- German defender expected to be sidelined for six to eight weeks
- Manager Craig Shakespeare says surgery was a success

The 32-year-old centre-half has remained in the UK to begin his rehabilitation, while the squad competes in the Premier League Asia Trophy in Hong Kong.

He is expected to return to full training in six to eight weeks.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Hong Kong opener against West Bromwich Albion, City manager Craig Shakespeare said Huth’s surgery had been a success.

He said: "Robert reported back for pre-season and got into some discomfort with his ankle. He's had an operation and thankfully it was successful.

"It's unfortunate for Robert but we thought it might be worse. We're expecting him to be out for around six to eight weeks."

Leicester kick-off the new Premier League season on Friday 11 August with a trip to Arsenal.

Their Premier League Asia Trophy campaign begins with a game against West Brom at the Hong Kong International Stadium on Wednesday, which kicks off at 1800 local time (1100 BST). The Foxes will then meet either Liverpool or Crystal Palace at the same venue on Saturday.

it's bad news that he's out for the start of the season but he'll be fresher when he comes back and that maybe a good thing! as he's getting on him and big Wes need to be utilized more efficiently so they don't get crocked more often which means we need adequate understudies to them!

I hope he fully recovers and is just as good as before but at his age and his lack of mobility anyway this could severely hamper his defensive ability.

We need another long term CB option.

This could be bad news based on Morgan's performances without Huth.

Morgan was an absolute monster in the CL game against Madrid at home.

But terrible in every other game he's had to play without Huth.

It's also worth pointing out that Huth looks poor when Morgan isn't alongside him.

They've been our best two centre halves for the last couple of years and they've formed a reliable partnership. Of course it's detrimental when one of them is missing.

Shame that so many people are keen to disrespect Morgan though.

Huth didn't taper off nearly as much as Morgan did. Without Huth at his side, Morgan cannot position himself defensively at all and panics very easily. Huth paired with Benny (or Wasyl to a lesser extent) is just a not-very-compatible partnership as when Huth is forced to be the physically calmer and less reckless of the two CBs he struggles and his lack of mobility becomes more of an issue, just not as much as Morgan's problems as Benalouane's pace is reasonable enough to make up for it and when he manages to keep his cool can do a serviceable job.

Morgan's inability to organise a defence when he needs to be the leader is a more pertinent problem, and hopefully Maguire is up to that task.

To suggest this is just flagrant disrespect to Wes is ridiculous. He's one of the most important figures in our dressing room and is a fantastic captain, but we can't close our eyes, ignore his shortcomings and pretend that he's a better footballer on the pitch than he is.

Sorry but that is complete nonsense.
