Drinky looks poor so far. James seems much more up for it. Ndidi and Iborra/James for me. Still no attacking threat though...

If Drinky falls into his good season/bad season pattern then he'll be our best player next season but he's just so difficult as you don't know if he's gonna turn up.

I really like James but a fully fit, confident Drinky has got so much more to his game than MJ - most notably mobility which is what we need in the middle if we play 442.

Obviously Wilf plays alongside one of the other midfielders because he's brilliant.

I think today we'll see a bit more of the potential starting 11

For me it's Ndidi and A N Other

But Drinkwater would probably get my vote ( If he's fit )

It's a nice feeling to have a "little" strength in an area where we had little options last year

Ndidi and Drinkwater

Matty James proving that the less you play the better you become.

Or just proving he was never as bad as people made out. After winning the league the amount on here claiming he was not good enough for our midfield now.

He was written off by many with no good reason other than he was injured.

Iborra looks class above. At last, a midfielder that comes short for the ball from the goalkeeper.

DD and Ndidi are locks to start the season.

Atleast we have options in Centre mid now! Drinkwater looked spent last season!

I like Kingy for the nostalgia, but he's crap let's all face it!

James is looking good dare say it back to himself imo which is excellent! It's like a brand new signing!

Lets hope Iborra hits the ground running as N'didi did

I went with DD and Wilf

I for one am excited :)

Clearly Ndidi and Drinkwater need to start and then we need to slowly intergrate Iborra into the midfield!

Haven't we been playing Iborra in pretty much every friendly so far? I reckon Shakespeare fancies starting him against Arsenal. And based on last night, I know who I'd start out of Drinkwater and Iborra.

Wes McGuire Fuchs

Mahrez Ndidi Iborra Drinks Albrighton

Okazaki Vardy

With what we have despite RM being dodgy and weak defensively I'd trial this with the three in the middle for a half hour!

I think too many squad signing could harm team cohesion. moreover, we have our transfer budget depleted already.

I would rather ndidi and ibora to start to fulfill 2 roles. ndidi becoming main cm, while rotating with iborra, as well becoming backup CB when needed. so we don't need to spend more for CB since we need RB as well

Slimani look like still have much to offer. lets hope we can sell him at big price, or at least close to his value to come to leicester. get rid of ulloa. so Iborra can be number 10 backup when needed as well.

so I would like midfielder consist of ndidi/iborra, then 1 more cm could be competition for drinkwater and james. depend who's perform well.

Difficult question to answer as i think we need to be more flexible this season for specific games.

From early signs its fair to say Iborra is a very good player on the ball but he's going to massively struggle in a two.....

I'd still like to see more of James although Ndidi is a must regardless of formation

People are really voting James from his few pre-season games over Drinkwater's one and a half years of solid performances in the Prem? That's as fickle as you can get.

Ndidi and Drinky all day long to start with.

I wouldnt say thats fickle, I'd say it's  panic voting at DDs alarming decline...

Ndidi and Iborra for me. James a very close third. Wasn't convinced he had anything to offer now but I've liked what I've seen in the pre season games.

Spot on.

Drinkwater looks a shadow of the player he was when Kante was here. I'm not totally convinced about Iborra/James but we need to give them a go.

I wonder if the way to get the best out of iborra is in a 3 man midfield - isnt that is he is used to ? I havent seen him play at all and dont know that much about him.

In Leicesters 4-4-2 the two central midfielders need to be able to constantly press and harry and play quick passes in a counter attack. Can Iborra play that way? If he comes from a more possession based style in Sevilla he cant be at his best in a 4-4-2. I say Leicester should start with Ndidi, Drinky and Iborra in a 4-3-3. In fact I'd even start with James instead of Iborra, that would be a pretty tough midfield.

Playing three in the middle would also free Drinky a bit to show his passing range and attacking ability more, Leicester lack creativity through the middle. And there are plenty of options for a front three- especially if Leicester sign Iheneacho

KS

Simpson, Wes, Maguire, Fuchs

James, Ndidi, Danny D

Mahrez, Vardy, Iheneacho

Leicesters central midfield targets should be players who have had a high rate of tackles and intercepts, whilst also able to retain possession well. There is a player called Benjamin Andre at Rennes who I think could have been a great signing- not now, think there are enough options already- but instead of Iborra in theory.

If we accept our midfield is as creative as a lobotomised geography teacher, why not just use wing backs? Couldn't Albrighton and Chilwell be the link to our attack we've been missing?

Posted

Ndidi and James for me so far.

Drinkwater still looks poor and offers nothing at the moment. Shakey needs to drop him and maybe we'll see the Drinkwater of old when he doesn't get automatically picked.

We have four potential first XI CM's (Drinkwater, Ndidi, James & Iborra) who have different attributes and styles of play. We can rotate all of them depending on their form and the opposition.
