Ever since the club amazingly won the Premiership (I still have to pinch myself now), I have no idea how we are being run. We've made some bizarre signings, some naff ones and this transfer window looks to be nothing special. Whether Shakey will prove to be the right choice, time will tell. Is Rudkin Director or Football now? Or chief Scout, or both? If so, why? These positions usually take a lot of experience at the bigger clubs, a lot of know-how, charisma and guile. I don't feel safe that the club's recruitment policy appears to be in his hands. Is this the case? Does anyone know?

Col...i was never a cheerleader for pearson... but the organisation seems to have gone home since he was let go. I think our recruitment needs to be alot more focussed and relentlessly professional. Our negotiation certainly needs specialist input. I cant believe the owners would allow one bloke to run talent management and m&a in one if their businesses. I have said before that the whole structure of the non first team functions needs to be separately managed so we are more bomb proof to a turn over in coaches. Which is the way of the world
mozartfox Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 No idea who is in charge, but hope something positive happens in the next two weeks. Then will be the time for any post mortem. Vichai & Top will be all over this like a rash, so let's wait and see. Maguire, Kelechi and Jako, will be good signings, but this not enough of an improvement on last year, in my oppinion.

SheppyFox Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 What concerns me is if the owners think we're good enough because we went on a run to stay up last season

Ric Flair Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 If Rudkin got back out to Gran Canaria on his laptop like he did for the agreement with Iborra, we might get this fcuker in. Only round the corner.

Tielemans63 Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 "I've always been very clear and I would like to stay here," he told La Provincia. Sounds like he's mad keen to join us.
vanity Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 He is more a no 10 than Gylfi. Seems to have superior skill on the ball, I think we are likely gunshy bc of how slight he is, would be a concern re the physicality of the Prem. But frankly, if I were simply choosing based upon skill as a playmaker, Viera by a mile. Guessing he is an indifferent defender?

Think people are reading too much into that. Most players aren't fools like Mahrez, they play it close to the vest like Gylfi is, even though he clearly wants to go to Everton. If this all falls apart, Viera has to play in front of those fans, of course he's gonna jack then off a bit, esp in the Spanish press. Our wages talk.
tom27111 Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 I don't know a lot about him, but saw this stat earlier. Not bad

foxes_rule1978 Posted 4 August 2017 Posted 4 August 2017 Now this is a player we could do with would make for a near perfect window if we get him in or someone similar

Who should we have gotten, Col? Well to be fair, we hadn't got Nacho before I posted. Maguire I'm well happy with. All the reports are he's only going to get better and will flourish into a Prem defender. Iborra? I still haven't the faintest clue as I've not seen him play. Again, I guess my biggest worry isn't the number of players signed, its which positions are being filled. The RB spot worries me as does the central midfield being full of the 'same' type of player. I'd feel more comfortable personally, with a clear RB replacement for Simpson and a clear ball-playing midfielder who was the number 1 CM every week. But, you can't have it all. We HAVE spent money and we DO look solid enough.
