Happy Fox Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/swansea-city-target-jonathan-viera-13425151 Las Palmas midfielder Jonathan Viera has broken his silence on a potential move to Swansea City, admitting he is sad at how his situation has been handled. It comes amid rival interest from Leicester City, according to Spanish media , with a major tussle now developing over the 27-year-old. The Canary Island club were believed to be putting together a new contract offer for Viera, but the attacking midfielder has revealed his disappointment about the way the situation has been handled. Viera has a €30million release clause that Swansea are unwilling to meet and the Spaniard has revealed he'd be happy to stay if Las Palmas make him feel wanted with an improved contract. If not, he could follow former teammate Roque Mesa to the Liberty Stadium. Jonathan Viera of UD Las Palmas "I've always been very clear and I would like to stay here," he told La Provincia. "We've been complicated for a few months because of the rumours that have come out and I'm sad about how everything has been done, but I deserve to be valued as I have always been. (I am) also sad about how this situation has been handled." Viera and his representatives are expecting more offers this week, with Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare reportedly keen on the Las Palmas Number 21.

Max Power Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 This lad is quality. Probably just had our name thrown in to move it all along.
StriderHiryu Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Here are some useful comparisons. I feel like he's more of a left winger than a central mid, but perhaps someone can correct me on that. Seems promising though.
AKCJ Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 He's fun to watch. In fact Las Palmas were the team to watch last season.
MPH Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 I'd be proper mad if it was a straight fight between us and Swansea and he went Swansea...
Adster Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Just now, MPH said: I'd be proper mad if it was a straight fight between us and Swansea and he went Swansea... I don't think the media helps in fans perceptions of stuff like this to be honest. A classic scenario where I see kids rage on Twitter etc: 1) Newspaper briefly links Leicester to a player 2) Said player ends up joining other club 3) Fans vent on Twitter saying "ARGH WHY DID WE LOSE OUT ON A PLAYER TO WEST HAM/SWANSEA/WEST BROM" etc etc." You see it on here a lot also. Whereas in reality no one knows whether Leicester were even interested in said player. Newspaper could've just thrown our name in to spruce things up.
Harry96 Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 He's really a left winger but can play behind striker if need be would give us that creative spark.
Jimbo Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Agent talk to get a better deal?? Sounds like it to me. According to that article the player has expressed his desire to stay and wants no move. He wants a better deal so throw in a few names to get his current club a bit jittery and offer it him. Non starter surely!? Would be a good player though, just don't know where he'd going to fit in.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Yes please looked great whenever I saw him!

RoyFox Posted 3 August 2017 Posted 3 August 2017 Right footed so wouldn't be a Mahrez replacement as we play inverted often. More Gray replacement as he's RF, doubt that'll happen. Swansea will offer more play and Mesa is there. Some solid scouting by the analysts at Swansea again.

I think Albrighton will immediately move to right wing if and when Mahrez goes and Gray or potentially this chap if we signed him would be on the left.

If Mahrez left I can't see the club having the three main wingers all being right footers. However, this seems to be a pretty weak rumour so all conjecture tbf!
