Are we content to be Chelsea's feeder club?

Strikes me as we are making ourselves weaker each season just to make Chelsea stronger

are we happy with this as fans ?

Not good enough in my opinion simply not good enough. We should be competing with Chelsea, fantasy or not that's what we should be aiming for.

Thoughts?

Don't be daft. It's a nice thought but every player has a price and if a player wants to go Chelsea/United there's not much we can do but get a fair deal for our selves and scout a replacement accordingly.

True to a degree but should be we be trying to match the other clubs ambition?

Yeah, but you look at clubs that are much bigger than us like Dortmund and Atletico, there's not much they can do when one of the big boys want their players

Chelsea are a bigger club than us. If next summer they want Maguire or Mahrez there's not much we can do besides demand a huge transfer fee.

I get the thought and desire Bob...we all feel the same, but we have also got to be pragmatic about where our ambitions lie and where and how we can compete.

You see that's where I disagree we should be fighting tooth and nail to hang on to our best players

we aren't even talking big fees. Our entire midfield engine of the title winning team sold for £30 plus million each when average full backs are being sold for £50 million?

I know I know

just part of me feels it's pointless even competing if we are giving up and selling each time Chelsea come calling? Just show some fight please City

our Leicester is our collective priority I don't give a shit about Chelsea or any fvcker else for that matter

When I was growing up in the 80s Chelsea were equivalent to West Ham, mid table in the top league at best with occasional relegations. They had a major hooligan problem and sometimes got sub 10k crowds. I find it hard to see them as a big club but to younger folk they clearly are. But they weren't always "big", and neither were Man City. So by your reckoning it shouldn't have been possible for them to break into the top group of clubs. I guess their owner is just much richer than ours and that's what made it possible for them and not for us.

We're not as big as Chelsea/Arsenal/Liverpool/Everton/Tottenham/Manchester United/Manchester City.... If any our players want to go there we've got no chance to stop them.

Similarly, if their players are wanted by Real Madrid or Barcelona they want to leave to go. Ask Ronaldo; more recently ask Countiho.

One league title does not make us more of an appeal than the real big clubs.

Unfortunately, Conte knows that our players can be extremely effective when using high tempo, combative tactics.

Nothing we could have done with Kante and we did well to get the extra £10m.

Drinkwater went for a lot of money for someone who is fairly replaceable.

Rather them than Arsenal anyway.

The way football is these days though with the 'big 4/6' bollocks it's hard for a club like us to make a long term impact unless we sell and scout brilliantly I think. Most players will always see those clubs as a step up now

They did us a favour when they bought kante and paid more than enough for DD. Kante want to go, Drinkwater didn't want to be there. Any other offer from a big club and he'd been off anyway. What the big deal?
