Adrien Silva - Terms Agreed

If we did send it late and if they reject it, you can still appeal. The appeal board have a bit more wiggle room from what I read in the Nice / Sporting example a few years back.

The club only got the say so from the Premier League to register Silva within the squad on the basis of all paper work being filed on time. I doubt very much so that the Premier League would risk major breach of its governing body for little old Leicester City. Can you imagine the implications (financial) on the league if they suffered a ban on transfer dealings as a result?

It leads me to believe that both clubs have met the criteria. The international break (governed by FIFA) may be reason for the delay (my assumption.

it could even be that the club have clearance but are holding up the announcement till the player is back from international duty (again, my assumption).

All the other documents need to be in order and on time also.

Err.   the delay is about International Clearance according to the Club statement.  The other documents you mention, I doubt need to be lodged with FIFA as they are to do with domestic registration.  But I bow to your superior knowledge.

Lets hope it doesn't come to an appeal. There's a lot of people on FT that couldn't handle that(me included)lol. Its never straightforward being a Leicester fan is it?

If it goes belly up............. I'll wait for Jan to see his debut

It'll be fine though, we never do things the easy way do we ?

Nothing like a bit of drama to keep FT occupied

Imagine sharing a trench with some of these posters! I'd end up blowing my own brains out after a few days. So negative and complaining about everything.....

How strange - I thought exactly this analogy last Friday/Saturday

fWho says this is a crisis?

The statements have been clear we are waiting for International Clearance, what more can they say? Hourly updates saying still waiting?

We don't conduct our business through the press, we never have done. We all know the situation, we just need to be patient, I know this is an alien concept for some of you younger ones, but those who grew up with Ceefax being the height of instant communication know that you just need to wait these things out.

ok so crisis is a bit strong - let's say it is a kerfuffle.  Whatever, it is unusual to find ourselves in such a position - it is leading to speculation and anxiety on FT...

Actually - we don't know the situation do we?  How long does this clearance usually take and why have we not gotton it.  What is unusual in this case... and what arguments do we have that will give us confidence that it will all be ok?  These are reasonable questions.

I am 58 and grew up before cefax...  I have had some experience in dealing with difficult situations (where patience was required) .... and where I needed to come out of it with the ongoing confidence of parties - not a feeling that I was a hostage to events...

Even if it all turns out r well ,  some explanation as to why it looks like we are incompetent is needed if we are to have confidence in the futre... let's see how it goes and let's see if this whole thing enhances the reputation of the club for competency.

I think want they want is £ or € or $.

I guess if the thais put a couple thousands of £ between the papers all would be done and approved by now.

So we're officially in crisis then are we?? Surprised i've not seen an announcement about that!

may be crisis is a bit much -  (I used the terms to illustrate the need to control communications and agenda to prevent the opinions of others undermining an institution) ... but we seem to be in a muddle... why? how serious ? how hopeless I have no idea - I would expect some kind of word.

Any idea if we did send it late? (and if so why?).   has there ben a ruling yet - if not when?  if so, have we had to appeal it (ie it was not good news) -  these are reasonable questions  but non of us knows the answers

Wonder if they're waiting for some really bad news so they can bury the bad news that we've lost Drinky without getting a replacement. If the whole Korea thing kicks off they could slip it out then and we'll read it from our underground shelters before returning to thoughts of armageddon. It would still reach 100 pages here though.

I doubt we'll see much of him before Xmas regardless of when the signing is confirmed as we'll have months of him not being selected while he 'adjusts to English football'...

This guy is so much better than the rest of our midfielders, I hope it won't be long before he's thrown into the the fray! This is our best and most influential signing we've made in years imo. Class act! Still can't believe we only paid 22m for him, what a bargain! If this falls through, heads need to roll.

It's an international transfer and as such it needs to be processed through the FIFA TMS (Transfer Matching System), all the documents get uploaded to FIFA from what I have read.

You are right, that's what the club said we were waiting for. The caveat to that is that their case is built on them thinking the documents were all uploaded on time. So from their perspective that's what we are waiting for, or at least that's what they are going to say if it comes to arguing your case.

Obviously we don't know for sure, but there has been a lot of stuff from the sporting side saying that the documents WERE late being uploaded. International clearance is and should be a formality, we've signed plenty of players before and said the same. But we've made a song and dance about it, pictures, quotes from everyone involved... we've not usually waited 12 hours and released a 20 word press release.

It could be of course that it's all wrapped up tomorrow, it could be there is an issue with the clearance itself (Hamilton cancelled the transfer of a Spanish player as it was taking a month+), or it could be the international clearance is fine, but we were late. Thus meaning FIFA need to look at it before they clear him to play.

Nobody this end has said anything about it being late, but there has been talk the Sporting end that our paperwork was seconds late.
