Amartey is shite in midfield. James blows like a fookin train. Iborra..I have no idea, King is a upper Championship standard player and Ndidi is a kid who needs to be playing alongside quality to develop. Added to that, we have Mahrez who did just about everything he could to get out. That don't bode well to me. Correct. If true a £22m blunder = Rudkin should be sacked. Its another wasted season, where challenging for top 7 was not out of the question who knows; could now more likely be 3 months of a relegation scrap.

They told him there were some issues they were working to 'overcome'. Does this mean an appeal which will take a few days ? It obviously means things have not gone to plan. I am astonished that an organisation which turned over £200m last year is unable to complete a transfer in time. If it wasn't felt there was sufficient time to complete a deal then we should have told Chelsea they would have to wait until January. We were told that SCP put the price up late on. At that point we should have pulled the plug on DD's deal. taking a risk like this is incredible. My confidence that this would go through was based on not being able to believe the club wouldn't have handled this competently. I'm left hoping that this will get sorted but unless FIFA are bound to reject the initial request followed by acceptance on appeal I am now struggling with this. Re stringers tweet - Working with SCP and the player is odd. Unless FIFA have said they are unhappy with paperwork from SCP and need some clarification I'm even more concerned with this news. either FIFA approve the paper trail and timing or they don't. If you go to appeal you'd need Silva, his agent and Sporting to corroborate your story. Nice cancelled their appeal, but were told by the arbitration board they should have continued it, as they believed they could have won the case. That was based on confusion between the parties on what form the payment took (one party wanted money after tax, other party thought it was a before tax amount). This meant the contract needed redrawing and thus they missed the deadline by 4 minutes. If the arbitration board thought Nice could have succeeded on that basis (there are pages missing in the doc so I can't be 100%), then we could feasibly have a case if we have an issue like that which delayed the uploading and all parties agree.

Whatever team we put out on Saturday, it'll be 11 out of the best squad we've arguably ever had. What a ridiculous thing to say. So what if 5 years ago in the Championship. So what. You're supposed to move forward in Sport, not sit still or move. I take it you'll be happy with finishing bottom. After all, five years ago we were in the Championship. You should tell Manchester United fans not to moan, after all they have been top flight Champions about 20 times.

Otherwise we'd be challenging for the top 4 again instead of looking like midtable fodder.

I'm sure they won't stop him working for us, ie. us paying him a wage. But that isn't the same as him being allowed to enter a sporting competition, ie. the Premier League.

What I was getting at was that - if this goes badly wrong, which might not be the case - then it tells us something about the running of the club as a whole. I expect Rudkin will be the guy held responsible if the deal is delayed and the problem was in his department. But he might be a victim of a club-wide policy of wishing to see the pound notes before making a key transaction. If we've prioritised an outgoing deal over an incoming deal - which may or may not be the case - then that's unlikely to be Rudkin's personal preference. It's likely to have come from above. This is a fair point. But then you'd have to assume that the owners/directors are taking this stance because of the huge waste of money Rudkin presided over last summer.

But we've just made our 2nd highest finish in 20 odd years and we look set to better it this year. Just wish people had some perspective. It's embarrassing to see people try and claim that the squad we have now is anything less than magnificent for a club at our level. Yeah Silva signing would have been nice, but we'll be fine until January. And you'll note that I said "5 years ago we were in the Championship" because Col said that we've regressed 5 years. I was pointing out how pathetic of a statement that is.

From 1-11 we're worse but from 1-25 we're far, far, far better.

We may well have some better players sitting on the bench than we used to (debateable in itself) but all of those together don't add up to one Kante and I'd argue they don't add up to one Drinkwater either.

I said in the summer we'll be lower table/above relegation zone so I expect to be there. Beating teams like Brighton will ensure this but we'll not progress any further. And now we've lost an important player without really replacing him.

I think our squads are a long way off the rest.

It's pretty poor considering the money we had to spend and the base we had to build from. We've lost our first choice central midfield in the space of a year and we look really weak in that area now. So no, we won't be 'fine' until January. we'll be wasting months being worse than we should be. And we don't even know if Silva will be massively effective yet.
Guest Posted 5 September 2017 Posted 5 September 2017 I know for a fact we're not the only club in this position so it does happen. Could we release adrien on a free and then sign him up?
