I'm guessing they were reluctant to pull the Drinkwater deal to avoid disappointing him.

If that's true then someone really does deserve the sack. It's one thing making an error but quite another risking the best interests of the club for fear of upsetting a player earning 100k per week.  I wasn't our fault Chelsea didn't make a reasonable offer until Thursday.

look the club has said (through sources) that it will be working with the player and his former club. That suggests that all parties intention is for Silva to be a Leicester City player and there has been an issue with notification to FIFA.

I suspect the lawyers will be involved tomorrow and though I am not a sports lawyer, I would suggest in the context of football the notification to FIFA constitutes a statutory notice. I suspect the lawyers will rely on the Mannai principle and justify the notice as deemed served correctly, despite whichever error was made.

If we have missed the deadline however, we are ****ed!

Oh, Jon has certainly outdone himself on this one.

BTW - it's his effin job to get those players.

It's his job to secure the deals of incoming players based on scouting reports and Shakespeare's recommendations.

It's impossible to argue that he's done anything less than a magnificent job this summer.

Those angry that we've been unable to get the Silva deal sorted might want to have a pop at the man who decided he didn't want to be a Leicester player any more 24 hours before the window shut. Drinkwater might be a legend for his part in the "Inconceivables" but he's been a right royal cockhead and he's ****ed us over massively.

lol it does kind of make Rudkin and whoever involved seem absolutely pathetic in terms of transfer dealings... I know people joke a lot by this doesn't help his case lol

How so, exactly? We agreed terms with Adrien Silva, his representatives and Sporting.

That's Rudkin's job.

This isn't Drinky's fault - to suggest otherwise is lunacy.

It's his fault more than it is anyone elses. He had all summer to force a move and he did it leaving us no time to get the replacement through the door.

How is it lunacy to suggest that if he didn't do that, or if he'd done it earlier, we'd be in a stronger position?

Ha ha ha ha, you guys are so easy to please, the only real coup was nacho man.  Jupo and drago were mediocre signings.  Magiure was a good signing but it's not like Chelsea were after him.

The guy is doing his job, and gets paid well to ensure things happen and properly.  Things foOKed up, he is responsible.

Do you even know how transfers work?

It's honestly incredible how much over reacting is going on.

Maguire has clearly been an inspired signing.

Jakupovic is an improvement on RRZ.

Iheanacho will be a super star in 5 years time.

Iborra has won it all in football, clearly a brilliant signing for the price.

Dragovic has been on our radar for ages and will be a very good bit part player for us.

What did you expect? That we'd be signing  Ronaldo, Messi and Neymar?

This'll be good.

Go on Swanny. Explain to me how you think a football transfer works.

So to recap...we've lost a player who wasn't playing, didn't sign a player who we never had, and strengthened our squad in other areas and we're in a relegation scrap.....
