I feel this is definitely going to be an unpopular opinion but Mighty Boosh has aged terribly.

I'm just happy somebody got the above reference.

I think I was the perfect age and type of person for when it came out, a mid-teens indie kid, and thus absolutely loved it and still reference it from time to time (though, not as much as Peep Show, The Office, Partridge etc). I've not watched them back for a while, but imagine you'd probably be right.

Boosh, Skins, Inbetweeners and a few other programmes that my generation loved would undoubtedly have aged awfully were I to watch any of them back.

The three comedies you mention are still funny, although The Office is hard to watch just as a comedy now without associating it with Ricky Gervais, whom almost nobody has an objective view of. Boosh just isn't funny, although maybe its fans would say it was meant to be more than that. I don't really get the appeal.

I think they rode a wave of the alternative comedy for the goth/punk/indie scene of the mid to late 2000s, which has subsequently died a death. Right place, right time sort of thing. It's perhaps far too time and genre specific to span any length of time, I had a similar experience with Garth Marenghi's Darkplace over lockdown. Despite loving virtually everyone involved, I'd managed to never see an episode so gave it a try and was just utterly lost by it all.

The four of those that I mentioned (Peep Show, Partridge, The (UK) Office, and Boosh) are all reference heavy, but I think the mundanity and every day nature of Peep Show, Partridge, The Office etc, over the bizarreness of Boosh, have made them far easier to stand the test of time.

As an aside, I'd be lost without so many of the aforementioned. Boxsets and the like are all well and good, but they're not quite a 10th re-run of Peep Show.

I think even at the time Garth Marenghi's Darkplace wasn't as funny as it thought it was.

I've had the opposite experience with some sitcoms like Father Ted and the IT Crowd which I didn't think were that funny at the time but now I like.

I have. It's not that I don't like the taste etc.
I just find them a bit much & too filling along with curry & rice.

some of my mates rather have a curry & naan with no rice. I'd always choose rice over naan

I absolutely love curry, rice and naan. But it's one of those meals where I end up ordering far too much, because there's so much I want to eat! I find half a portion of rice and half a naan bread is more than enough with half a curry, and that's only if I haven't stuffed myself silly with poppadoms and dips before it arrives

I'm also finding I want to eat less and less meat these days, I'd probably be just as happy with the sauce the curry comes in. I couldn't eat it without the rice, though, the bread is just a very nice addition

I tried to watch Might Boosh once and never got it either. Mind you it was about 11am at night and I'd had a few beers. Someone recommended because I love Monty Python but it wasn't even close to it for me.

I'm not sure if this is unpopular or not, but I quite like that we have resident fans of other clubs here. I like their contributions, mostly, and I love that they feel comfortable here. Also it must show what a great place it is to be, even if we already know it.

Especially the Celtic fan we seem to have turned, even though I don't think they have admitted it yet

Yeah it's quite endearing I suppose. I've deffo changed by opinion on @The Bearover the years on here tbh. He's actually a decent bloke I reckon :D

Naan bread with a curry ain't all that.

Rather have it with just rice.

The answer is to sack the rice off, it's the most tasteless part.

I never have curry with rice. Tear up the naan and use it like a spoon. Curry is finger food.

I agree, I'll admit I didnt enjoy his posts at first but I think he's a decent bloke now too. My bad for judging too early!

All our non Leicester fans are decent on here in fairness.

I know this is unpopular opinions but surely there's got to be a line somewhere. Honestly that's atrocious.

This. It's always been kind of "traditional" to have rice with curry but I wonder how many authentic curries have rice as an accompaniment. Maybe @DrTheSingh or @Raj could inform us better. I imagine flavoured/spiced rice will be more of a staple rather than plain boiled/steamed basmati.

BTW I'm useless at cooking rice. I understand the rinse, rinse, rinse, to get rid of the starch and then boil as instructed and then leave covered for a while but it's either a bit soggy or a bit under cooked. Any tips would be helpful.

Most vegetarian Indian food I have tried is much tastier than any dish with meat in. My dad is Indian (Hindu) and a majority of his family eat vegetarian food as they find it tastier.

When you are back in Leicester try a place called Mithaas on Narborough Rd you won’t be disappointed.
