It's not really a counter argument though.

Edit: that is to say, it's a fact. He'll achieve it on merit too. You can't argue with the numbers, I myself am only suggesting that he's gotten there via a different path.

I’d probably tend to agree. Just offering the argument. I can think of ten or so centre forwards that I’ve preferred.

Goldfinger is overrated imho. Bond is captured and totally useless for 80% of the film. Gets two sisters needlessly killed with his buffoonery. Sexually assaults PG in a stable. He doesn't even manage to diffuse the bomb at the end. Needs someone else to save his ass.

When I rewatched it I completely had no idea about the PG scene, it's ****ing mad watching that now in today's society lol .

Not to mention Goldfinger and Oddjob are both defeated by their own mistakes!

From Russia with Love is definitely my favourite Connery film, even that one has Bond pretty violentally given a women a pretty harsh backhanded slap round the face.

Worth saying that Patrick McGoohan was offered the role of Bond before Connery and turned it down because he didn't like Bond's ethics and womanising, so even at the time there were definitely some who frowned on it. McGoohan added elements of The Prisoner to be a criticism of Bond-type spy films/tv as well.  Especially that crazy episode with that guy who thinks he's Napolean and that female assassin.

I would counter the Kane argument with the fact that he’s soon to become England’s highest ever international goalscorer and has a pretty good chance of being the PL highest ever too.

That's probably why I feel the way I do. He's got a good chance of being objectively the best English striker ever but I don't think he's that good. I wouldn't even consider him if I was making a world 11. I think he's a good example of a young English player actually being given game time in the premier league and being able to fulfill his potential. Shearer for comparison was world class until injuries hampered him.

I’d definitely class Kane as world class.

Disagree with Brosnan, could be slightly bias cause he was sort of my bond, I agree his catalogue was a bit shit though, but I still believe Goldeneye is the best bond film

Goldeneye and Tomorrow Never Dies (one of my top 3 favourites) are both good films.

Kane is World Class.

You're comparing with nostalgia. Shearer was World Class but so is Kane.

Kane has scored practically 20+ goals every season in a side that's never won anything. It's mental. If he had gone to Man City, with the players they have around him, he'd be pushing 30 goals.

Let's be honest though, the vast majority of it comes from the same 2 or 3 posters that have been spouting the same shite patter about Spurs non-stop since 2016.

Kane's numbers are fantastic and he's clearly a top class player but he doesn't grab me at all. Other recent greats like Aguero and Salah had an excitement about their style, just don't get that with Kane.

I tend to agree with you.

There can be no argument against his goal scoring but he doesn't excite me when he's on the ball. Aguero and Salah are exciting to watch when they weave and move between defenders. Kane is a bit Vardy-ish in so far as he can move defenders out of position and get behind defences to go on and score but is largely reliant on the midfielders/wingbacks getting the ball to him

I CBA to quote the other comments but I need to say, I can't stand any Bond films. I find them corny and back in the day, quite misogynistic.

I'm not great at suspending disbelief.

I didn't get the Bourne films either, nor anything with Jason Statham or Bruce Willis in it.

I get it. With Bond films I kind of have the same feeling that others were saying with Britpop the other day. A lot of Bond films are actually pretty bad when you compare them with other films, but it's a lot of fun nostalgia watching them.

You might be right, I'd probably rate Kane more if he actually played for a club that was winning things and we could see the kind of impact he'd have. Feels to me like Spurs are built around him and that suits his statistics but he's still not winning anything.

It’s very strange, also the way that people on here take the piss and laugh at his speech.

Can’t imagine them laughing and mocking if they had a child that spoke like that.

I watched most of the Bond films with my Dad when I was a child and enjoyed them a lot. I don't really like the modern ones that much. I feel like modern Bond tries to be too serious although I don't know what the alternative is.

Classic Bond is essentially a masculine fantasy. Fast cars, guns, gadgets, women on demand all while "on her majesties secret service" fighting stereotyped villains. It's not meant to be believable but you can enjoy the set-piece scenes and the one liners.

I think Leicester fans' dislike of Kane stems from some people trying to give him grief the season after he was on loan here and then him scoring and shushing them and then scoring pretty much every game since. It's a tad embarrassing seeing as it's born out of nothing other than bitterness.

Also worth mentioning regarding Harry Kane is that despite him not being successful while he was on loan here, he was still a good professional that trained well and put the effort in. Shakespeare and Pearson said how good of a trainer he was when he was here.

He is the mirror opposite of our club I reckon. He gets great personal stats, lots of positive media coverage and he is very comfortable with his team not winning as long as he does well.

I don't get the hate as he is a model professional. But in my mind he has wasted his career and has been badly coached at club and international level.

Was starting to potentially like Kane, then he swore on his daughter's life he scored a goal which he didn't touch. I don't even think the minor connection he has here effects my opinion though. Hasn't turned up when we've needed him for England either

Did well at the knockouts in the past Euros.

Might not have turned up in the WC semi final or Euros final but he’s certainly no Rooney when it comes to being completely useless at major tournaments.

Spurs in general tbh. Yeah it was funny at the time but getting worked up every time we play them like it's our biggest game of the season is very, very odd.
