Are you denying the existence of "Second Coming"?

I wouldn't blame you, it's a challenging listen

I do. I do deny it.

Stone Roses released songs that werent on the "one" album.

The correct response would've been: "But what an album" - and we could have shaken hands, smiled, nodded sagely, and gone off to enjoy our separate Sunday evenings.

I'd say it's not in the least bit challenging - that's the problem. Five years in the making...prescriptive, uninspiring and mediocre. For a band that was looking to reassert itself the only thing that it confirmed was that Ian Brown can't sing or write a decent lyric, John Squire had spent the last half a decade discovering Led Zeppelin I - IV and Mani was bored shitless. Always liked Reni's drumming though. "Second Story Love Song" is quite nice and "Daybreak' is laughably bad.

I challenge YOU to listen to it all the way through with nothing to distract you other than a Kitkat or similar to be enjoyed at the half way point and absolutely not before.

I was quite into Led Zeppelin at the time so I was a lot less offended by it than a lot of folk were, although I was always intrigued as to why they were determined to make a ROCK record when they had a vocalist who's about as far away from a ROCK singer as it's possible to be.

It's got the same problem as the Oasis albums after the first one; it's trying too hard to be momentous, an event, and having used up their good ideas too early the only tool they have to achieve this seems to be making the songs a bit too long

I have a nostalgic affection for Britpop. Not because it's any good. It's wasn't that good at all really, and has aged pretty badly. It just reminds me of my teenage years and takes me back to that time.

I do too, because I was going to gigs all the time and buying records* by the bucketful.

I never really got on with the term, as it seemed to suggest that it was a certain style of music when to me it was just a period of time when what would normally be considered 'alternative' music was temporarily popular and had loads of money chucked at it by the record companies.

Google 'Britpop' and the list of suggestions is bonkers. Elastica, The Divine Comedy, Manic Street Preachers and Northern Uproar are apparently all Britpop

Voiceover: He doesn't. You, me, and he all accept that - just let it go and don't pass comment.

Funnily enough, I would rarely if ever put on a Blur, Pulp or Oasis track, but I do sometimes listen to Shed Seven and Echobelly.  OCS were decent at the time, although the band were better when playing with Paul Weller :)

It's a bit random what I will and won't listen to from that time; there's the odd Sleeper track I'll play, but I don't think I've put Echobelly on this century, even though I was well into them at their peak. Gene's the other one I can't go back to for some reason - saw them loads of times, bought everything they put out for a couple of years but cannot imagine listening to them ever again

The city "blue and white friendship" with Bochum is seriously cringey. I just don't get it. It could be any club in the world that a couple of Leicester fans have seen play abroad.

"A couple". You're talking close to a hundred on each side who've now been to each other's games at least once, many of them on multiple occasions. Lifelong personal friendships have been formed as a result. If either club ceased to exist we'd still be mates.

I get that it's a weird concept for most English fans but I guarantee one pint with any of the lads who come over from Germany would change your mind.

Best disinvite a few mates from my wedding in the summer though if it's too cringey...

Say what you like, but I have had some incredible days with those lot. Every time you go over you are made to feel so welcome and they are ever so grateful that you are taking an interest in their football club. I'm also really glad that I've been able to regularly experience a different football culture and one which has so much going for it. I'm certain that anyone on here could go over there and have a fantastic time, so much so that they would be looking to book their next trip as soon as they got back.

Making good friends from different clubs and having those experiences is brilliant, I'm not knocking that.

That doesn't make it a Leicester friendship for the rest of us. I personally feel like it ties me to a club I don't care about.

Just because I'm not all for this friendship, doesn't mean I'm not keen to experience games abroad. I've been to loads and I'm open minded to mixing with fans from all over and experiencing different cultures including Bochum. But threads pushing a friendship and shared banners is where I draw the line that's all

I think you're missing my point mate. I'm not underplaying how class the trips must be

That's fine. As I say, if it ain't your bag then it ain't your bag. But it isn't forced upon anyone at all and no-one who's involved is going to get upset if Leicester fans don't care about Bochum or vice versa. No-one from either side claims to represent anyone other than those who are interested in the friendship.

Similarly, no-one is forcing you to read a thread about the friendship. Plenty have got involved in trips over there just through open invitations posted on this forum and elsewhere though. You seem a sound guy so I get the sense you'd really enjoy a visit over there, even if you didn't want to be part of anything "official", so to speak. Would genuinely like to extend that invitation to you next time we go over there because I reckon you'd have a great time with a bunch of blokes who've become as passionate about Leicester as they are about their own club.

I respect that, and appreciate the invite.

What I will say is, at least it was a natural sort of growth between real fans with similar interests.

Don't get me started on the Leuven trip with King Power lol
