As a fanbase we are terrible with dealing with players who left both on good terms and bad whenever we play them again.

That's just football fans in general, we're no better or worse than any

Spurs in general tbh. Yeah it was funny at the time but getting worked up every time we play them like it's our biggest game of the season is very, very odd.

Agreed. It reminds me of my Forest supporting friend who insists they have a rivalry with Liverpool!

Yeah agreed. Still can’t understand those who boo Mahrez or Maguire. Loads on here seem to dislike Drinkwater too which I don’t really get either

I would disagree, granted I'm not invested or travel with another English league club but no chance would other fans boo the likes of Chris Wood, Harry Maguire etc

Chris Wood? Really?

Think there's a bit of a difference between genuine dislike and just playing apart of the pantomime, I'm happy to give Maguire a bit of stick but I still quite like him. I'll never get people booing Mahrez though, I know he's made a few dodgy comments about us but a lot of it was probably accurate in terms of his talent lol

I don't dislike Harry Kane, just dislike how it's exaggerated that he's much better than Vardy, which clearly isn't true. If Vardy had as many games for England + took the penalties for them, I don't think the return wouldn't really be much different imo (and we might have had some silverware...)

I'd rather have a prime Vardy than a prime Kane, Vardy at his peak had great pace which I think is very hard to defend against and I think is reflected in how well Vardy has performed vs "top" teams.

I remember when Gradel came back and scored for Leeds.

Didn’t celebrate and he still got met with “Leicester reject”. Weird.

Mahrez I get due to him not making himself available for a couple of games but in time I think it will pass.

Fans boo former players and do the whole "reject" thing because it's what fans do, for some players anyway. I've never thought it necessarily merited, nor even personal, and I don't read a lot into it.

Kanté is an exception - he's just that kinda guy, everyone loves him!

It was great to hear the applause and singing for Nuge in 2017 when we played Derby in the cup.

Nobody 'deserves abuse' from the 15/16 team. The only players I'd really abuse as a Leicester fan are Wise and Shearer, probably a couple of others but they are the first ones that come to mind.

Mint flavoured chocolate like Aero, like eating toothpaste. Just wrong.

Orange flavoured chocolate as well, it's never seems to work as a flavour combo.

Wash your mouth out with a toothpaste flavoured sweet treat.

Mint Aeros are an absolute culinary delicacy, Terry’s chocolate orange ambrosia.

Turkish delight can get in the bin, though.

Why?

It's not like we could have done anything because he had a release clause.

If anything, that situation made the club better at negotiating big fees for our best players.

His move was kind of justified when you see what he's achieved in the game since leaving us.

He's an incredible footballer and deserves to be playing at an elite level.

We should be incredibly proud we had him for that year, look at what we did.

It's easy for us to say players should stay, but it's a short career, make the most of it. I think Kante, Mahrez and Chilwell have all proved they made the right move. To some extent, maybe Maguire did too, struggling at the moment, but he's captain of Manchester United.

Drinkwater made a bad move, Vardy made the right choice to stay.

These players have no emotional connection to the club like we all have. Even if they did, they still have to maximise their earnings and try to win trophies, look at Grealish. Kane will probably be the next in the summer.

Release clause don't just allow the player to leave. Opposition club can talk to the player if it's met but it's then on the player.

I think ealingfox was referring to the fact Kante left after a season, and in that sense he's correct. Mahrez stayed for 3 or 4 more seasons.

That said, I don't boo any of the title winning team personally. I don't think I've booed any returning player aside from Wise and Mattock.

I had the impression (though I don't know from where) that Kanté wouldn't have signed without the release clause. We had to offer him that to get him to sign. He backed himself to succeed, to show his worth and secure an onward move.

I reckon if he hadn't have got his move, he would have given us his all again for a 2nd season... and again for a 3rd if needed.

Whilst with us, he was a model pro and gave his all. I personally have no problem with that or with him wanting to move on.

But as mentioned, he has no real connection with us, in the cold light of day, it's a job to him.

I'd move to a competitor for more money and more potential success. Who wouldn't?

Fair play to him.

We didn't do too badly either. 30 million profit, a Premier League trophy and Champions League qualification.

There's certainly no hard feelings from me.
