Huddersfield Away 1-1 post match

Until the Silva fiasco is sorted, whether that be in a few weeks or in January its pretty obvious we are in need of a change in tactics. I honestly dont see how playing our current midfield set up is going to win us any games. Im usually the opptimist but neither King or Iborra is suited to a 2 man midfield.  N'didi is also not playing like he did last season and i dont know if that is down to having to do double the work or a lack of form, perhaps a mixture of both.

On a positive note, we didnt lose and moved up the table.

Huh, how is it an ad hominem? I suggested you to watch the replay, you didn't. The guy is running at full speed, there is a push, the guy falls. You decided to ignore that and settled for a dive.

I did watch the replay on the game and it looked a clear dive. I've seen it as many times as you have watching the stream.

Neither of us have been able to watch it since because it isn't anywhere online and you know that very well else you would've posted it yourself.

Feel free to post it and I will watch it again. Until then it looked a clear dive to me as i said judging by the extra steps before fell, his appeal for the penalty and the lack of any real contact I saw.

Vardy missed an absolute sitter after some very clever play from Mahrez... and you can hardly blame Slimani for doing nothing in the whole 10 mins he was on the pitch... At the time i thought it was a bad sub but now it was the right choice to make, even if only for the reason of fresh legs on the pitch.

yes, but Vardy had already scored and was still our most dangerous striker (and The fact that he's consistently our top striker speakers volumes)

IMO taking him off and not Iheanacho was a dumb substitution from Shakespeare, who seeks to make a habit of them.

How i saw it was he was pushed (gently) and made a meal out of it ....

Vardy had a groin strain mate, either take him off or risk losing him for weeks

Slimani isn't up to it and I wouldn't keep persisting with him. We need confident players or those with a point to prove.

What were you expecting in 8 minutes playtime and with the team playing crap? An hat-trick? He isn't a superhero my friend.

Make this a thread please. I'm dead serious. it's a crucial information.

Iheanacho had already been off the pitch 13 minutes by that point

I was thinking the same. Wagner has done a great job there. They out Leicestered us today in work rate and pressing. That's going to be a tough place to pick up points for most sides this year.

That's the point though.

Their manager was tactically superior to ours.

We need a manager who is tactically better than Shakespeare.

Questions I would like answers to:

1. Why are we not pressing the opposition?

An example today even from throw - ins. THEY get a throw in their half, we jog away and let them throw it to a team mate.

WE get a throw in our half, and ALL our players within 20 yards are marked, forcing a long throw which goes to them, or a quick throw and punt...which goes to them.

2. Why do we not play three in midfield when we have three available. (Iborra has to be fit otherwise would not be on the bench?)

(I hereby retract previous criticism of Shakes re: Vardy substitution as he was injured)

Fair enough. I'll post a link as soon as I can get a decent one. Then watch closely the right of the defender behind Gray.

I agree with this. I think Shakey needs to look at a 3 in the middle. Iborra, N'didi and Silva sounds like a great 3 when Silva can eventually play. I hope he tries three in the middle against Liverpool Tues. Some say that we've tried 3 in the middle before and it didn't work. However we've now got players that have played in a 3 and they're more comfortable with it.

If you have Iborra who experienced directing the other two, then I think it can now work and it'll strengthen the midfield as a whole, not chasing shadows. Who you play as the third midfielder until Silva is available, that I don't know.

A draw away against a team that is playing without fear or pressure after being promoted is always going to the tough. If they start losing a few on the trot then they're confidence will start to drop and then they'll find it tough. By all accounts we didn't play well, so it's a point gained in my book.

Its not true that Slimani did nothing.  He tried to beat Schlupp's effort against Everton as the shittest shot ever.

Did you see Schlupp play today, christ we are complaining about some of our players but he was was teribad. How on earth we got £12m for him i will never know.

No way he's beating Ronnie Rosenthal or Peter Van Vossen but I get your point.

Really worrying thing is we can pretty much all agree Merson is a bell end. Problem is though when you go back through the match thread and see the abuse aimed at King and Maguire

Take all the points!
