steveherbe Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 Course we should play him, injury or not. I've paid a lot of money to see him tomorrow, let him have a week off when I'm not there

I think the fitness staff have shown capable of avoiding that in the past. He's played through 2 or 3 injuries the past two seasons and shown plenty. A half fit Vardy is still our best player tbf.
Guest Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 Surely nacho man would be perfect up top rather than risking vardy
dannythefox Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 One game and then 2wks off yes we should play him.
filbertway Posted 29 September 2017 Posted 29 September 2017 I mean, we have signed a pretty good striker from Man City...

As far I as I know Vardy was shite in the beginning, right? We don't have 55M sitting on the bench for nothing. What's the point of buying them or any other new player then if we don't trust them? This kind of mentality, being stubbornly stuck in the old ways and refusing to give the new players a fair chance, is going to cost us dearly at the end of the day.

With any other player I'd agree but we need our best player and talisman playing right now. He's the only player who gives us the hope we can still win games right now. It's not about not trying other players It's that Vardy is bang in form when the rest of the squad aren't and he always looks likely to score right now. Of course we don't need to play the same side every week and yes, there's a lot money sat on the bench - but so what? On the flip side, you don't play players because of their cost either - you play them because they're in form or fit into the system and Vardy is the one player (maybe Okazaki too) who is in great form and who we play round and the one player we really can't afford to be without right now. If there was real risk in him playing he wouldn't play. If our fitness staff deem him fit enough to play even if not up to his full fitness, then 100% he should be starting right now.

And if he gets a long term injury Leicester is pretty much screwed. In all honesty the future is going to be Leicester without Vardy and playing with the other strikers purchased and available. Also a half fit Vardy isn't better than the other players as his fitness would affect his play, closing down opposition and so on. We have players like Iheanacho and Slimani to use that can be assets if put in that place so we should use them.

Give him tomorrow off and the international break and have him fresh for the next important five games. Time for others to step up I would agree with this if we had more than 4 pts. Rest him now and we will be cut adrift by the time he is fit again.

Otherwise we'll have another Drinky from last season on our hands. Yes he is our best and most prolific striker, but it's not as if we don't have options... The best we've probably ever had... Just look at how Slim and Okazaki linked up against Liverpool in the Caraboua cup, and then you have Nacho on the bench still. If we don't rest him, then seriously what is the point of having strong back ups? Thoughts? Yes I think we should give him a rest or at least the bench And see how it goes .
Guest Col city fan Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 Being a Premiership club and having spent what we've spent on strikers, it is absolutely fookin ridiculous that we should be playing an injured Vardy and ridiculous that anyone thinks we should do. It reflects the current state of the club...and of the forum.
Grebfromgrebland Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 If we don't utilise the rest of our squad what's the point of buying players? I actually think we'll see a couple of changes

It is more a case of 'bad recruitment' that is going to cost us dearly at the end of the day, not an injury to Vardy.
Phube Posted 30 September 2017 Author Posted 30 September 2017 Not only would resting Vardy help him, it might force is to play a bit differently! And for those who keep stating or fitness team will know all: how many games has Drinky played this season?

Guest Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 we played an injured Vardy throughout our title winning season and an injured Drinkwater last season.

nnfox Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 I'd like to be able to rest him but we can't. He is our Plan A and we don't have a Plan B.
whoareyaaa Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 If he is genuinely carrying a knock then lets try something different Nacho & Oka or Nacho & Slim or Slim & Oka
Devonfox1884 Posted 30 September 2017 Posted 30 September 2017 I'd start Slim and Okazaki today. No need to risk Vards if we don't absolutely have to - let's have him at 100% after the break.

And for those who keep stating or fitness team will know all: how many games has Drinky played this season? A good slant on the question. When Vardy was banned during the title run-in did it cost us the title? No. Other squad members stepped up to the challenge. Even the much-maligned Musa stepped up last season at Everton, since when our squad has improved to the extent that there are several ahead of him now in the pecking order for potential replacements. We are having to guess about the nature of Vardy's injury, but if it is such that either he would play with much-reduced effectiveness or it would risk damaging him much more severely then it's a no-brainer - it would be crazy to play him.

I honestly think that he hopes Vardy will continue playing until he's in his 90's. We'll get this year out of him and maybe one more. We need to be planning for the future right now and playing some of these players that we have spent big bucks on. I for one am fed up of seeing our bench with 50m worth of strikers yet we still play a one dimensional attacking method. It was great a couple of years ago, but something else is needed now.

It was great a couple of years ago because we did it a couple of years ago. We're not doing it now, that's why it isn't working Where's this myth come from that we're playing as we did 2 years ago? We're not, that's the problem.
