Should we be playing an injured Vardy?

Hearing that Vardy has been having painkilling injections for his hips after matches is some what concerning, surely now is the perfect time to rest him (a full two week rest with internationals) to give him a chance to recover. Otherwise we'll have another Drinky from last season on our hands.

Yes he is our best and most prolific striker, but it's not as if we don't have options... The best we've probably ever had... Just look at how Slim and Okazaki linked up against Liverpool in the Caraboua cup, and then you have Nacho on the bench still.

If we don't rest him, then seriously what is the point of having strong back ups?

Thoughts?

Any other player? No.

Vardy? Absolutely.

Our entire style of play revolves around him and he's our best player by a country mile. Even half fit he's still such a huge threat.

Eventually he's surely going to have to sit out some games though.

I'm not comfortable with a Leicester team without him at all, but if he's injured, he's injured.

Not just our best striker but our most important player.

He plays if he can get through on an injection.

At the risk of a long term injury?

He played with painkillers to keep us up. He played with painkillers to break the consecutive scoring record. This is what he does. I'm not worried about it at all. Also we need all the points we can get and this game is a great opportunity.

In a word............. No

Long term affect is more important than short term gain.

Give him tomorrow off and the international break and have him fresh for the next important five games.

Time for others to step up   :fc:

The odd occasion may be acceptable, but Vardy or any other player shouldn't be playing for any length of time with an injury the effects of which are masked by painkillers. The long term effects (e.g. permanent injury, arthritis etc.) have to be considered by the club who surely, like any other employer, have to protect the long term health of their players, not just for the few years they will be playing football.

I'd much rather rest him and try out other partnerships if only just for one match before the internationals break.

After all there's £60m worth of talent between Slimani/Iheanacho/Okazaki and they all need game time.

He's a trooper and is nearly always carrying some sort of knock, the title winning year he had an arm brace on the whole season and even had a moment during his goalscoring run where he had his knee buckle but he just carried right on banging the goals in.

Seems to put club before country which is great for us but I still want to see him make next years World Cup

Just stick some sort of bandage or cast on him and then he'll score 11 on the bounce

That's for the medical staff to decide.

If there was that risk I would imagine he wouldn't be playing.

Don't think we would be too much in the shit if he missed one game. He's been very sharp this season though.

At least if Vardy was injured the other team wouldn't know how we will play lol at least we have the likes of Slim and Iheanacho that could replace him. Better than Ulloa and Okazaki.

Yeah let's overuse our best striker and dope him like a horse until he completely breaks.

If he's in as much pain as being reported, then no.

The reason we have a squad is for this reason, he should trust them to do a job.

Missing one game, gives him 3 weeks rest, better that than risk him and lose him long term, but what do I know.

I think we all know the side for Saturday, same team, hopefully different result.

Yeah it's a difficult one, he's so pivotal to our style of play and frankly too important to leave out of the team, but sacrificing one game to give him a rest also seems like a good idea as well, especially as we do have good options up front. Oh well, let's hope he bangs in a hattrick and we can all laugh about it after.

I don't think Shakey is that stupid. We have a lot of attacking options, we don't need Vardy. Plus it's not like we are facing any actually tough opponents in the coming days.
