What happened to the post-Ranieri team?

What happened to the team that played those first few games under shakespeare? High intensity, pressing from the front, chasing, quick passing football; how did we regress to a side that can’t pass or create a chance?

I have no doubt that Shakespeare was behind the resurgence in terms of getting back to what we were good at, but we also played some pretty poor teams during that spell and I think the players were determined to prove a few things to the press.

They improved to prove a point after the Ranieri criticism but ever since Arsenal away in April we've regressed back to the laboured, boring, negative team we were before.

We desperately needed a change in style and personnel but took the safe (although it looks anything but) decision to stay as we were.

5 wins from 5 in his first 5 league games. 3 wins from 15 since, and they were Watford & Brighton at home and West Brom away. That's relegation form. Worrying.

Somewhat disagree here, sorry.

Maguire has been relatively solid, highly-rated and is still young to improve better.

N'Didi, Gray and Mahrez need to be kept as convinced they'll be even more important players for the future.

Vardy is a top talent, whilst Slimani and Okazaki can be key.

You don’t play your own Messi you criticized him and you thought gray is better ! He needs love and more balls I mean 80%of the balls then you are at the top now you look desgresful and so so bad ! Leicester doesn’t deserve the premier league right now

We don't have terrible players, we have a squad ingrained in playing a certain way. They are settled in that style and it is too late to change the mindset. You need to bring in fresh players and a fresher feel to the place.

I don't expect us to dominate possession, play tika-taka, lovely little triangles all game but passing it out, building, moving the ball quickly should be expected of top flight footballers. Either they are refusing to change and should be dropped or the manager is telling them exactly how to play so he should go.

It is not working. We are not defending well, the midfield is being overrun and at times we have zero threat going forward.

Not bad though apart from that.

No confidence...we need our strong characters to step up ..Schmeichel, Vardy, Huth etc.....love Wes Morgan's  playing style but hes not vocal enough on the pitch.

Got the feeling Cambiasso played this role in the Great Escape

The players no longer have any pressure to perform now their mate is in charge and will stick to the same tactics to appease them and pick them based on 'nice lads' over quality. They also have no media saying they're shit one season wonder snake bastards.

yeah, i’ve always felt we need a roy keane type character in the middle, not necessarily just because of his style of play, but ability to actually vocalise and motivate if necessary.

Slimani can be key, I don't think so. You could give him a key to a door and 10 hours later he'd still be trying to get in!!

he was undoubtedly A problem.

The players were the problem, it's as simple as that. The manager can only do so much. Once the players are on the field they need to perform to their strengths and not many did, too may woeful individual performances.

Proves to me Ranieri wasn’t the problem

Ranieri is still the problem!!! Undid our club infrastructure, bought 'talent' over attitutude and destroyed our team philosophy as a result, we're still paying for it now.

Bollocks - 9 of 11 today were in the title winning season, 8 of them were signed by Nigel or Sven (I.e. before ranieri). The problem is we've got a manager with no tactical intelligence or motivational ability.

I absolutely am. Who removes up to date facilities and resources such as club psychologists and sport scienctists to favour your out of date philosophy of how football 'should' be done.

When we really needed those things in place with squad injuries and player morale running low, we didn't have it in place and what followed was a slump of results, which temporarily picked up once he left through relief I assume and now we're back in the slump he left us in.

Various interviews post his sacking have been printed regarding the quoted issues. So I'm rather unsure as to why some people feel the need to be offensive in their 'reactions'.
