Here's my thinking on the matter and hopefully it's shared by Southgate:

1. Play Kane in every single game, let him prove how good he is (and let's be honest, he is very good)

2. Playing Kane in every international will tire him out and will eventually derail Spurs season, leading to their now almost predictable bottlejob around April/May which will see a meltdown of every Spurs fan in the world, for the betterment of mankind.

3. Vardy will remain match fit throughout the season and come next summer, Southgate will have no option but to play Vardy and build the team around his strengths, making England exciting and entertaining to watch for the best time in more than a decade.

4. Vardy scores the winning goal in the World Cup Final.

5. One of the kids off One Direction wins the Oscar for best actor in the feature film "Vodka & Charlie".

6. Steve Walsh, Craig Shakespeare and Nigel Pearson, adorned in tuxedos, each light a cigar and crack open a bottle of bubbly.

7. In the background, there is an ostrich.

Then you wake up and realise we just got knocked out by Senegal in the first round of the knock out stages because the supa stars forget how to play football together

So Southgate reckons we've  got no 'BIG' players and who could argue with that. Sadly when we did have some we still won FA and haven't done so for 50 years.

Maguire whiffing on that header in the box won't impress Southgate.  First match jitters?  Looked like the pass was close enough on the replay.

That Winks looks like he will be a class player, def one for the future

Yep!  I think anyone in an England shirt who attempts to pass forward would look impressive though ?

It's hard to know what does impress Southgate he thinks Livermore and Cresswell are international players

lol yea that's probably about right, we do have some promising players though and finally have someone who can score a goal unlike the over hyped passenger Rooney... there is hope

You're missing a cracking match.

Hahah! Decided to whack the Scotland game on. Leigh Griffiths has scored a nice goal for the Scots.

I'm getting on board with Hoddle to manage England claims. Even more so if he takes Tyldesley to be his assistant and we get some proper commentators.

Not watching.

My Hoddle hate combined with a meaningless fixture and Scotland's game being a bit more laden with consequences.

Hope ITV see low viewing figures and get rid of you know who...

Re Hoddle, they'd bring in Southgate to co-commentate, he'd spend 90 minutes in his monotone voice complaining that the football is  lively and open and un-regimented.

The amount of individual errors we’ve made in defence in the last two games would be jumped on in seconds by good teams at the world cup
