Slim and Nacho might have gained much needed confidence and match fitness for league game.

I'm looking forward to the Everton game now, although it's difficult to choose who we are going to start up front.

As much as all on the field today played really well, who do you drop from Saturday's game?  What a great problem to have.  I think Apple's starts the weekend team.

Claude will be in by the weekend

I doubt he’ll make wholesale changes for Saturday - we won’t really see his impact until the following week, IMO.

I tell you what though, that Kemar Roofe looks a decent player for them, surprised he can't get into their team too often.....

Would definitely be strange to make changes for Saturday when we play Sunday :thumbup:lol

I've only seen a brief highlights video and I'm not looking to moan or create drama, just after a bit of confirmation from someone who watched the whole thing.

Did Iheanacho look really miserable to anyone else? Don't expect him to be delighted with the playing time he's had so far to be fair but he scowled after scoring and assisting both.

Considering Dragovic has only played 2 games for us, it looks like he's been at the club for a while. I quite like him as a defender. Doesn't flap so much and always looked assured. Morgan I always feel looks clumsy on the ball, but he doesn't. He seems so calm.

Yey! We have another young prospect we can try and destroy psychologically before they've had a real run in the team.

Let's just look at his face then speculate as many negative things as possible about him. We need more fans like you!

Pathetic first 35 to 40 minutes, where we were simply second-best in every department. Leeds, featuring a plethora of fringe players, pushed us to the max and didn't allow us any space or chances.

Our midfield, particularly in the middle, was non-existent and it was absolutely painful to watch how a home side can be dominated by a team one division down.

The ball-watching from King and Albrighton for Hernandez' goal left me speechless at half-time. That's amateurish.

The ball from Albrighton to Slimani that led to Iheanacho's goal as a reaction was a true beauty, but symptomatic for our lack of ideas in the opposing half: His lob started just before the halfway line!

You could also say that it was a product of chance, with Slimani not getting to the ball and Iheanacho hesitating at first, then smashing it in - thanks to two bounces off the ground. Great goal, though.

We were much better in the second half, much improved. More aggressive, more precise, the will was suddenly there to win it and Leeds could hardly reproduce their form from the first 45 minutes.

I still wonder why we tend to need a kick up the **** before we start playing good football. Reminded me of the West Brom home game in the league.

Iheanacho MOTM for me, but also kudos to Iborra, who I thought played flawlessly and gave lots of impulses going forward (great passing range) and our back four, who never really had to break a sweat and played it all very solid.

I also demand of Andy King to become visible again, as I think he comes across as just standing on the pitch, yet contributing little, just going with the flow as it seems.

Explains why all the crosses were massively overhit last night.

Amartey outstanding. Good result, we did what we had to do.....win.

Amartey was outstanding would like to see though what he can do in midfield but on the evidence tonight he could push Simpson for a right back start.

Gray was very good defensively tonight!! Watch that match back again and there are 3-4 occasions he made great tackles from tracking back and winning the ball, it's a myth he can't defend. He's just so desperate to make a name for himself he's out of position at times.

ric, in here, a lot of posters think flair=lazy. i defended riyad for it and i will do the same for gray.

ok, am i the only one worried about how blunt the team is without riyad? yes, before he came in we kept the ball well and had some nice flashes but, when he came in, we truly looked like scoring. the slim goal was him drifting into the midfield, drawing the oposition out of position and by that, he opened space, and his goal was a silky 40-something yard run that ended with a great goal.

i like gray alot, but he doesn't have the "game changing" ability  yet, i would be really worried when riyad leaves because when he is on it and have space, he is a top 10 player in the league. it's all about consistency and the way we set up, which is lacking a lot of the time

He was the same at city, and for Nigeria. In the training pictures I’ve seen he definitely seems happy.

I think he’s just naturally moody.

(like a Nigerian Morrisey)

in fact a Man City mate of mine told me a Kelechi smile is as rare as rocking horse sh1t...

Yes, you are on your own. Surprisingly, an Algerian-only point of view, I wonder?

Gray was a breath of fresh air, unlucky not to score and Albrighton got better as the game progressed - up until his subsititution.

The issue wasn't our play on the wings yesterday, it was clearly centre-midfield (I'm looking at you, Andy King). That's why Slimani had to pull back and help out in the middle way too often.

so, you don't think that the team isn't sharp enough when riyad isn't on the pitch?

don't take my words for it, many leeds fans said it. when mahrez is playing, we look much better, it isn't a coinsidence that the only two wins this season are the ones that riyad took over.

Very convenient to forget our 4-1 away win at Sheffield United. Or the 2-0 home win in the FA Cup against Liverpool.

Yep, clearly not biased.

lol

you mean the game where slimani scored 2 and had a 3rd disallowed? if i was really thinking about it like a "fanboy", i would have mentioned it.

we are talking about the league here.

I'm sorry, but you weren't talking about Riyad's influence yesterday - in this thread, a League Cup thread?

Seriously, why continue twisting the argument in your favour? :D Let it go.

We are utter shit without Mahrez in real games for the most part. We can be shit with him too but he's clearly the most dangerous player.

Yesterday was a little bit like the Brighton game where he rolled on and absolutely mugged them off with ease

:fishing:

like i said, i'm only talking about the league

but seriously, with an on form riyad, we look like the 6th or 7th best team in the league with a chance of an european spot. i'm worried about the winter transfer window because he could leave and we will be left empty handed.

edit: ok, i'm blinded with how good riyad is lol riyad is better than messi

Yep, you truly are. Hook, line and sinker.

But Riyad is just one piece in the puzzle, our main focus should be on strengthening our central midfield. We're missing a more experienced and influential playmaker (or even two) with pedigree dearly.

January can't come fast enough. I want Adrien Silva in a Leicester shirt so bad.

ok, that was my bad. but the point stays, even in the pre-season, he managed to come off the bench and win us the game against brighton.
it was nothing against gray, but i won't be happy letting riyad go without a player that can properly replace him
