You can already see it. By the sounds of it Puel likes his technical players or at least players with a little composure. Seems to prefer youth too which bodes well for players like Drago, Grey, Ndidi, Iheanacho, Chilwell. Could well signal the end of Morgan as a regular.

How come he didn't really go with it at Southampton? Much rather he go with a 3-5-2 than a 4-4-2 diamond with the players we've got.

Respect for our title winners is what's holding us back as a club As much as I like Morgan id much rather have Huth and Maguire at the back I know Huth is one of the title winners also, but this idea that Wes is undroppable just because he's captain is going to get us nowhere

I think certainly Simpson if we are to believe what we've heard about the way Puel plays with fullbacks. Albrighton could adapt depending on the system employed. I think he'd make a very good wingback.

Wont see him in the prem though, unless Morgan and Huth are injured or the new manager prefers footballers to hoofers. Agree. He will not be given a chance here until he learns how to hoof it to anyone not wearing a LCFC shirt. Better footballing brain and more mobile than both Wes & Hoof, I expect him to be recalled in January.
Koke Posted 25 October 2017 Author Posted 25 October 2017 Wouldn't be surprised to see Dragovic become a regular under Puel, and Amartey could also get a new lease of life as a RB.

I wasn't objecting to the idea of replacing any players and certainly not saying that anyone is undroppable. I was just objecting to the language used ie "sack off morgan and Simpson" . I just think they deserve more respect.
foxoffderby Posted 25 October 2017 Posted 25 October 2017 Really hope we sign him. Would love to see him in a back 3
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 25 October 2017 Posted 25 October 2017 He's played against Liverpool's 4th choice striker, and Leeds' 3rd choice striker, and granted looked decent, but that's not enough to displace Morgan who has been doing it at the top level against the best strikers for the last 4 years, and he has been our best centre half every season we have been in the prem, except the great escape year. People get the wrong impression of Wes, because his bad games are catastrophically bad to the point he looks like he has never played football before, but they are few and far between. He is a considerably better defender than Maguire, has more pace than both Maguire and Dragovic and from the limited time we have seen he is better in the air than Dragovic, which is why in a 442 he has to play. 352 on the other hand I wouldn't mind Maguire, Morgan & Dragovic/Fuchs.

I like him He's also a terrific passer from distance, which makes me think of elite teams like Real Madrid that, by design, seek one CB very comfortable on the ball and a second that can pass accurately from to break the press or initiate the attack. Fortunately with Dragovic, we get the added bonus of comfort with the ball at his feet. Re why Dragovic was brought in, I don't believe for a moment it was to back-up Huth and Morgan. Shakey was eyeballing three in the back after our good play with the 3-4-3 since 2H vs. Athleticism Madrid. If we keep him beyond this season, he is almost certainly starting. No chance he is ok being a back-up, he'd start for more teams than not in the Prem. Watching him play, he may well be our best defensive CB with regular play.

This could be a huge opportunity for Amartey as a RB if Puel favours ball playing full backs. Puel's appointment could give Amartey a new lease of life at this club.

In reality Shakespeare just sacked him off. Yesterday's back for was the one for me, or back three with Chilwell/Albrighton wing backs. Sack Simpson and Morgan off (captain or not). Wow, these ITK's are such a great asset to FT.
420Hashish Posted 25 October 2017 Posted 25 October 2017 I'm sure Puel would give him the nod in the prem.
