Fox 4 Life Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 Don't believe this for a second, would make no sense but according to an Italian paper we offered a return and he rejected. http://sportwitness.co.uk/no-grazie-claudio-ranieri-speaks-italian-newspaper-turned-leicester-job/
Ricey Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 To be fair, it's from a direct interview with Ranieri.
norwichfox Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 And it's a “No, grazie.” from me too, as much as I like what he did in his first season here. Why would he want to change anyway, he's doing something very similar with Nantes
DB11 Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 That would have been disastrous. We know our owners aren’t stupid

Ron Combo Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 There are three 'sports' (ie football) newspapers in Italy. They are all desperate for copy. Anything (and I mean anything) you read in any of them should be taken with an industrial measure of salt. La Gazzetta is from Milan so concentrates on two teams, Tuttosport is from Turin (ergo a Juventus match programme more or less) and Corriere dello Sport is from Rome. Ranieri is from Rome. And if we did ring him up (yeah, right) he is too much of a gentleman to have disclosed it. Imho, complete balle.

I did have to wonder what the owners were thinking in installing him in Belgium. Belgium has a tax treaty with uk and yet it has no capital gains tax. So...if you have large capiral gains then crystallising then while tax-resident in Belgium is sensible. Apart from that i dont know what that attraction of belgium is

SheppyFox Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 Don’t believe it. Ranieri has more class than to try and make us look silly or desperate.
Jon the Hat Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 More likely they asked him if he would return if asked and he said no.
Monsell1976 Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 Does make we wonder about the judgement of those employed to run the club. The mentality of them is astounding, like the bloke who was booted out, after giving the only top tier title in our history, and within 12 months offer him his job back, how insulting to Claudio, and this wouldn’t surprise me at all. It also proves they have no idea of a direction to take the club, hire Pearson, sack Pearson, hire Sven, sack Sven, **** nobody wants the job, hire Pearson, sack Pearson, hire Claudio, sack Claudio, **** nobody wants the job, hire Shakespeare, **** what have we done, sack Shakespeare, **** it let’s try and get the bloke we just sacked back. This is by no means criticising the owners, but the clowns in charge of recruiting
VLC86 Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 This surely didn’t happen, must have been misquoted because from every angle this would be a completely bizarre/disastrous thing to happen.
TrentFox Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 Maybe he misunderstood and they actually offered him the Belgian gig??

AlloverthefloorYesNdidi Posted 31 October 2017 Posted 31 October 2017 Shows how shrewd the owners are. They understand new-manager-bounce so well that they know all you need to do is fire and re-hire an old manager to have the desired effect. Kudos

Kudos I like that, just have Claudio, Pearson and Shakey on rotation, every time one goes stale, bring in the next one for a quick bounce. I'm obviously not being serious... ...but could that work?

Thats right, we're only one short. Nantes might be a bit much. Maybe we could buy Forest, as a sort of managerial sin-bin/penitentiary? If this was already up and running Shakespeare would be there right now doing hard time
