One thing I am most excited about with Puel is his history of bringing through youth players and with Choudhury making his premier league debut yesterday in a big game he has shown alot of faith in him to see the game out.

My question is which other youth prospects do people think will make their debuts this season in the premier league or cup competitions.

My picks would be:

Ndukwu- Probably in December when we need some rotation as the wings are quite weak in regards to backup at the moment and has already had some first team football in the Burton friendly.

Moore- His loan ends in January but it might be extended if the club feel he is developing more out there then he would here. If he comes back though he will most certaintly be getting some game time in the cups.

Thomas- Another winger but has also playing in cm in some U23 games. Wouldn't be supprised if he comes of the bench in the fa cup third round.

Muskwe- Long shot as we are already stocked with Strikers but could potentially have a look at him in a cup game to see if he can add anything.

I'd like to see Barnes get a chance next season, he seems to be impressing at Barnsley right now.

Was one of the plus points about Puel when he was appointed. One thing's for sure, they all know if they perform well, they will be given a shot. That has to be a boost for them.

That could be big for their careers, even if many don't make it here. Previously it's felt that managers were too scared to give them a chance, at least they have the bait to chase now. I'm hoping Chilwell stays in the XI and we see a bit more of Hamza. Ironically if we do, it'll be at the expense of King, our most celebrated graduate of recent times.

If they're not good enough, I don't want them anywhere near the first team.

I appreciate the excitement to develop our own youngsters but I think sometimes some of our fans want them in the squad for the sakes of it without knowing anything about them.

Of course they have to be good enough, hell I was recently thinking choudhury won't make it here after initial hype a few seasons ago but he came on last night and was steady, even put in a good challenge on Kane when he was a few seconds from shooting. No harm in debating which ones people think have the most likely chance of getting some first team game time this season, even if it's for 5 minutes.

We have some very promising youngsters, a few that have stood out in video's I've watched are: Alex Pascanu, Connor Wood, George Thomas,  Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and anyone named Josh ;)

Me too, I feel sure he will make the grade for us.

You'll never know if they are good enough if you don't give them a chance, PL2, Checkatrade trophy, even the league/FA cup is not the same as an opportunity in the first team in the premier league. Some players flatter to deceive against weak opposition, others thrive in a big game.

Josh Knight trains with the first team a lot with Hamza. I assume he’s the next closest to a debut

He's looked decent when I've seen him for the U23s. We have quite a few good defenders in the U23. Johnson, Moore and Knight as well as that non league lad we bought. Could save us some money if we can bring one of them through in a few seasons.

I think Barnes and Moore will stand a good chance when back from their loans. Barnes just has a knack for scoring/creating goals at every level he's played at so far, and Moore looked very accomplished when I saw him in Leuven- big and strong, but very comfortable on the ball. Like a young Harry Maguire.

Chuffed for Choudhury. He's ideal for us in that he has an engine that never stops, he's there to hunt down the ball, 100% pressure player. Vardy will love him.

I'm always impressed with Alex Pascanu whenever I watch him. Some of the interviews with the other Academy lads have suggested he's an extremely hard worker in training as well.

They certainly should be thought to have potential to be first team players at some point rather than just giving them a chance.

Ideally I'd love to see half a dozen of these young players who are genuine first team hopefuls and replacing older squad team players who have run their race here like Benalouane, King, Ulloa, Musa, etc.

Agree with this, Buzzing that HC got on last night however if I’m honest I felt a bit sorry for him in that situation but I guess it builds character.

I hope Barnes gets a chance as he looks like a decent player.

Barnes and Moore will certainly get a look in when they come back off loan (IIRC they're on season long loans and can't be called back). Thomas, Knight and Hamza look bright prospects too. Quite liked the look of Eppiah in the few U23 games I've seen.

The future is definitely looking bright with Claude in charge!

Had a meeting today with a client (Barnsley Season Ticket Holder).

He said Barnes is one of those who drifts in and out the game a lot but when he gets on the ball he  makes things happen.

He thinks all he is lacking is experience, Once he gets that he reckoned he could be a consistent Premier League player.

SCOUTING NOTES

Age: 19

Club: Leicester

Position: Central defence

Value: £2m

WHAT'S HE GOT?

Looking closely at this young centre back, I see a big, square-shouldered, physical presence that may intimidate some strikers — not unlike his club captain Wes Morgan.

When I saw him, he looked a little uncomfortable at first. He was playing as the left-side centre back and the opposing wide forward twice got into space between him and the left back in the early stages.

He was then beaten for a third time by some astute movement. His partnership with Leicester's other centre back looked well balanced on the whole, but the coach swapped their positions after that. Johnson moved to the right and was given the job of marking the opposition's lone striker.

He seemed more comfortable here, marking and winning all the headers down the middle. He showed a desire to tackle firmly and fairly. Later he was moved again: this time, he was asked to play right back and contain the opponents' danger man, a left winger.

Considering his struggles early on, one would have thought Johnson may have been exposed out wide but he stuck to his task diligently. He has fair pace but is better facing the play than having to turn and run back towards his own goal.

WHAT DOES HE NEED?

Although well balanced, he will need to be sharper on his feet. Agility sessions will help that. His main asset is his powerful defending. 'Thou Shalt Not Pass' could well be his motto. His coach obviously trusts him to play right across the defensive line and, with a good leap, he will not be beaten to a cross when he has to compete.

His blocking at the near-post area was crucial in this recent game and my own final verdict would be that he is best as an out-and-out No 5, winning the first ball and leading from the front.

Maybe he is more a Terry Butcher, with a bit of technique, than he is his captain, Morgan. With Robert Huth injured and Morgan maybe past his best, there could soon be an opening as a partner for Harry Maguire in the first team.

Johnson needs to get sharper on his feet if he is to become a Premier League defender
