Please Mr Puel , recognise that we have no chance of winning the league but a better chance of silver wear in the FA Cup, so please select a team to enable us to give it our best shot.

We will play a strong enough side to win but also taking into consideration fitness levels of the players after a big effort yesterday. Don't expect to see Vardy and Mahrez start. Vardy has had an injury recently and I doubt they'll risk him. Plus players like Silva and Slim need game time. I still don't understand all the people that slate Puel for his selections against City and Fleetwood after the gruellng schedule we had over Xmas and new year. Not ideal to have a replay against Fleetwood but I'd rather that than potentially have some of our stars injured after playing on that horrible Fleetwood pitch.

there is still a chance we might get Europa League so the manager will continue to prioritise the league and will probably pick stronger teams in the cup the further we progress.

Vardy will play, 100%.

I think you are spot on

90 minutes for silva, probably along side Iborra on a pitch like ours, should be a win, as long as the attitude is right, shouldn’t matter who plays.

That’s not arrogant or meaning any offence to fleetwood, but these players even the reserve should be head and shoulders above a team struggling in league one, but we need to have the desire to win, because they definitely will.

For me..Puel has  Carte Blanche.   Every one of our 24+ players, earn more money, so I expect not just

quality making a difference, but also in spirit and fight, they s re competing for their own bragging rights!!!

but football has its twist, and special moments, Puel is not a target for discontent, if we slip up, with this

game and if we go further..Peterborough. This is where a manager, gives the players their reigns to

showcase their potential...Its only the players that fk up, in these circumstances...

ps.  Its been obvious in these last few weeks, nobody on this forum can agree what our best team is,

So where is the basis for any decent analyse ln selection.....

Puel believes in rotation and though I initially had reservations I think it’s starting to work. More of our players are starting to get more game time on average whilst performances have generally been good. Gray, Chilwell, James and Slimani have been used at the right time in recent weeks for good effect. They start games instead of coming on which is fairer for them and improves their confidence.

Away to Fleetwood we were truly awful but the team we put out had more than enough talent to win it. Plus Harvey Barnes got a run out and these young players need a chance to learn and improve. I don’t blame Puel, I just think the players let him down that day. Sometimes it happens, a bit like the embarrassing home defeat to Palace.

Man City in the Carabao Cup might have been a different story as we played a weak team but in the end we only lost on penalties and the two players that missed were our best players!!

So I think playing squad players in the earlier rounds in the cup is acceptable though if we reach the last 8 then I’d like to see a stronger team as silverware is what it’s all about!

That said we are only 8 points behind Arsenal in the league and play them at home. If Sanchez leaves we will have a good shot against them. Maybe it’s too optimistic but I think with a strong end to the season we could finish as high as 6th which is a guaranteed European place.

None of the below started against Chelsea and this team should still be able to breeze past Fleetwood if they want to. We don't need to flog the first XI again.

Slimani

Musa Iheanacho Gray

Silva Iborra

Fuchs Huth Benalouane ?????

Jakupovic

Suspect Tuesday's team selection might also be affected by which 'Senior' players are requried to play in wednesday night's U21 Checkatrade trophy game Vs Oldham.

FA Cup obviously takes priority but LCFC will want to win both games so dont be surprised to see some 'senior'playesr being held back for Wednesday to balance-out the 2 squads as best as possible (ie Musa?  Huth? Jakupovic?  + Barnes & Iheanacho who are both eligible as U21s etc...)

But the Cup is an easier route to it, especially given who we've drawn in the next round.

That's just not true though.

We have a far better chance of qualifying for the Europa League by league position rather than winning the FA Cup.

We're six wins - two against lower league opposition - from winning the Cup. While I agree we're looking strong enough to challenge in the league, there are a fair few outside factors which are going to probably have a hand in our qualification. With the Cup, our destiny is very much in our own hands.

Why is winning the FA Cup "in our own hands" but finishing 7th isn't?

We're 25/1 to win the FA Cup.

I can't find a price for us to finish 7th but we'd be about even money I would think.

If we qualify for the Europa League this season it's 10-15 times more likely we'll have done it because of our league position rather than winning the FA Cup.

Not to mention this is also actually winning something that we'll look back and enjoy with pride.

Can't say I'll be telling the Grandkids about a seventh place finish a couple of years after we won the league.

I'm more in agreement with Gerard here. It's true that the FA Cup is in our hands, but the obstacles we'd face along the way are likely be much bigger than in the league. That's why we're still at such a high price with the bookies.

That said I don't think that's an excuse to take the attitude we did at Fleetwood, though it'll be tough this is a relatively good opportunity to win the FA Cup. Committing to both competitions should be something we can manage comfortably.

Well, there's no guarantee finishing seventh will be enough is there? Therefore it's out of our hands. Yes, it's likely two of the top five/six will with both Cups, but it's by no means a done deal. In the Cup, we can only play and beat what's in front of us and it's a guaranteed European spot whatever our league position.

As you've said though, Puel will play stronger teams as we progress, although I'd rather we focused our attentions on the Cup from now onwards.

My sentiments exactly.

Don't get me wrong it's a no brainer that I'd rather qualify for the Europa League by winning the FA Cup than finishing 7th.

However irrespective what's in our hands and what isn't we are 10-15 times more likely to qualify by league position than winning the FA Cup.
