Having said that I like the pub, 70s upholstery, carpet and a proper bar. Aylestone aside from Clarendon park is the best suburb within the city boundary for drinking.

The Old Horse on London road.  I've always enjoyed going there whenever I have visited.

I don't drink any more but one of my old uni haunts the Swan in the Rushes in Loughborough is also being acquired by Punch..

Haven't been to most of the pubs in Sileby. The Horse and Tumpet was sold to Punch by Steamin Billy, so I imagine that's bang average now.

 

Barrow and Mountsorrel are where the good pubs are at. Not far for you at all.
