You've just made me think of something gross here Davie.

I play golf when I'm fit and healthy and often in a four ball. Most of the blokes will go for at least one piss a round and some up to five of six times if they're getting on a bit and have a weak bladder. Obviously nowhere to then wash your hands on a golf course.

Then at the end of the round it's etiquette for everyone to shake hands on the 18th green. I'm now thinking there's every chance I've got second hand piss from three other guys on my hands and I'll quite often then put my fingers through my hair after I take my cap off.

I feel a bit sick now. Thanks

Makes the crisps in the 19th a bit more flavoursome though.

I'm telling you all now. All those wonderful posters on here who sent me PM's when I was in hospital over Xmas, if I ever meet you face to face you're getting one big almighty fvck off hug from me whether you like it or not...

That’s me and you remaining strangers then bro.

I have a special set of hugging skills. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. I will look for you, I will find you, and I will hug you...

I wasnt a big hugger, even family wise..Arms around the shoulder and an embrace.

Guys it was handshakes, then a sort of Eric morcambe/Harry Secombe embrace.

Women yes..

At work on the shop floor..or in the Gastronomy never thought about it.

Then I started travelling, living far and wide...First still rather conservative..

then just slowly took on the greetings of the 'greeted' from the girls, but stayed by the handshake by men.

Embraced my Dad, but never hugged him, my son ditto...

All women I know, we tend/tended to hug when greeting. They making the first move,

Except my kids or grankids. At work moving proffessions then into an office enviroments,

I took on the etiquette of the moment . Greeting kisses/embraces  for meeting women can slightly change,

from country to country, sometimes area to area...

Never greeted/left a man with a kiss, some close friends a quick hug.Enemies a glasgow kiss...

Totally the opposite.

Often hug my Mum and Dad, hug the other half almost every day and hug my friends almost every time I see them.

I love human contact, I shake hands with almost everyone I meet.

Same.

But some people are just emotionally challenged I think

You're the Liam Neeson of hugging.

I hug everyone I think isn't an arse when I'm smashed, why not?

Hey i even hug and sometimes kiss the ones who i do think is as an arse lol ... smashed or not smashed.. Im such a touchy touchy feely person but totally understand the ones that are not...

I remember Clarridge? scoring at Wembley v Palace in the later mins and after all the initial jumping and screaming i think i must have hugged and kissed every woman/guy/kid in a 10m radius...

One of the best ever hugs I had was at Wembley when we beat Palace in the play off final.

I remember it clear as day. The bloke was in his 60's and a complete stranger but we hugged and cried together at the final whistle for at least a minute. I remember looking into his eyes full of tears and we connected at a deep level.

Only football can do this and it was a moment that will live with me forever. It was a beautiful thing...

One the best random hugs I had was at the League Cup final at Wembley when Heskey poked in that late goal. It was up in the gods and a Sikh bloke next to me and I went bonkers. Fair play he brought his daughter and she was jumping up and down next to us. :D

I tend to take my cues from the other person, some of my friends are big huggers, some like a handshake, some are fine with a nod and an "alright" I don't really mind. It only gets awkward when I meet someone else like me and we're both waiting for the other to make the first move.

I preferred living in Spain every guy got a handshake, with an optional back pat, every girl got 2 cheek kisses. First time you meet or thousandth time, didn't matter. The only downside was you had to do it with everyone when you arrived and when you left, it took bloomin' ages. When it's time to go I'm more of a "right, that's me, I'm off"quick wave and nod and get out there.

You see if I did that it would make me feel very uncomfortable and it would weigh on my mind until I saw them again.

I like to say a proper goodbye as I think it's an acknowledgement that you have enjoyed the company you have kept, a minimum of a handshake I think.

I'm talking more about when out in a group and I just can't be arsed saying good bye to everyone. If it's one or 2 people hugs and shakes all round, even a group hug. Say it's a group of lads in the pub after a game of football can't be doing with saying goodbye to everyone individually, if it's a stag do or birthday party, I'd give the Stag/Birthday boy a hug and then a quick wave to the rest.
