As a sufferer myself i dont use the phrase "playing the depression card" lightly but it is nigh on impossible to prove, as there is "medical depression" (which at it's worst case could be termed "clinical" depression?, which would likely be a lifelong bedfellow, that needs monitoring, controlling, and treating (medication et al) and then what ive had to learn, there is also justifiable depression, where the circumstances dictate that even a "non-sufferer" would feel "medical depression" symptoms just brought on by shit circumstances. This can also be treated in exactly the same way and could easily be a total one off and they never have another "bout"

 

Having had shit times at work myself, feeling trapped etc and wanting better (and made worse if it is of your own doing - ie signing a contract with no release clause) this has certainly triggered a downward spiral for me at times, and speaking to others who have suffered one off bouts, this is often the cause for them as well.

 

Whether you agree with whether it is justfiable, there is often no proof and the club have played it right as the model employer, whether they did so willingly or under duress on advice.

 

If it really was depression of either sort, the clubs treatment appears the best chance of him getting back to form for us.

 

If it wasn't, we cant prove shit anyway and he has played with taboo subjects to get what he wants.

 

Its certainly the beginning of the end of our relationship at the very least.

 

If puel chooses to get him involved he gets my support because,

 1. On the chance it was real, its the rifht thing to do,

And 2. If it wasnt, because its still the best we could do with the hand we've been dealt.

The distinction between feeling depressed and the full blown medical condition is something that many do not understand. My GF is a therapist and she often finds herself telling clients that they are not necessarily particularly ill, and to cut themselves some slack, because they have had a relatively normal response to terrible circumstances.

 

When you have experienced serious trauma (and that means different things for different people), you are going to be sad/upset/depressed, but that doesn't mean you have full blown depression, which is a very serious thing.

 

I hate seeing normal sadness medicalised (and medicated), as much as seeing folks who need proper help (asap) not getting it.

 

Most of all, I hate austerity and what it has done to the mental health and social services needed for children and adults. Some of what is going on is utterly disgraceful.

Well if he is a changed man can they tell him he is Messi, a really sorry saga and sadly says so much about modern football. He will though be surrounded by "advisors" and people like his agent has probably around £10 million reasons why he should move. The agent will not give a fvck about Leicester City and what the club has done for Mahrez, nor clearly his clients interests Think a summer move is highly likely, thing is in the world we all live in he has already earned enough for him and his family to be financially secure for life. He could see out his career here and retire with a euromillions rollover jackpot size retirement fund. For us supporting City is a life sentence not so for many players. Cannot imagine what it is like to have an Advisor constantly in my ear but we must all know people who have had their heads turned for considerably less.

I'll happily sing Mahrez' name later today if he's in our 18. I hope I haven't got one of those weirdos stood near me that'll boo him.

I certainly wouldn't boo him but just because he's returned to training doesnt mean he hasn't shown great dis respect for our club and fans. The whole thing has been a circus and while you're right that we shouldn't trust the media, I very much doubt he hasn't done anything wrong. We'll probaby never know the whole story but he has certainly lost some of my respect.

I think that it's because, with respect, a few of us don't see the situation as you do - however, I can fully understand your differing point of view.

Still getting it wrong !! ...    the Sun state £80m plus a player was asked by LCFC. ..   NO ! ...    £80m cash ! ...      and the most annoying part for me ..   they, and others, keep using the word BLOCKED ! ...   his move was not blocked ..   they wouldn’t pay the asking price ...    if we were blocking we would just keep saying no to whatever they offered ...   we didn’t ..   we named the price.   So so fookin annoying !

If he is involved today, as is being reported, it would be a terrible precedent to set and appalling management.
