If there is a thread on this can someone move it ???

Yesterday was my first away end in years where a large number of people sat down , now I know coach 1 old people often do in first rows at spurs etc....

but last night 100+ people sat down to the right in the middle of the upper tier from the start of the game and it caused a lot of issues as there was people mingled in who wanted to stand and the sitting people got a bit wound up

I stand in the away ends always have and some bloke behind me kept saying “sit down” and even asked me to move out of his way, it was getting so annoying that I almost snapped but he was with two young boys and only a dick would snap at a man with kids. I didn’t sit for the whole game and I tried to not block his view but in the end I was quite pissed by it

So whats the concensus on FT , do we sit or stand in the away end ?

'there can be no middle ground' lol what a bizarre statement.

you can't tell people how to support the club they love. They've travelled however many miles to watch their team. There's no rule to say 'fans must stand to show true love for their club during the 90 minutes'.

Let people be a fan how they want to ffs.

I hate the whole "ohhhh they're sitting" shite. Like I said above, I always stand at away games where I can but I'll not begrudge anyone sitting down. They'll be a time when I'm forced to sit.

People are entitled to sit, be it because they're old, frail or just don't like standing.

However, people who want to stand have no dedicated area, standing doesn't exist in the PL unfortunately. This is where things need to change.

Personally, I like to stand at away games where possible.

If you can stand without causing issues and headache to people =stand.

If standing causes issues=Sit.

There you go I've sorted it.

Close thread

My Post of the day..

Such logical troubleshooting..

But if I'm somewhere where people want to sit then I'm not going to be a dick and stand so they can't see.

I think, as I always have, we're in the category of taking good numbers away but not making noise. For the majority of yesterday we were quiet. I was right next to their fans and the majority near me were more bothered about "banter" with their fans.

I've always said that all aways should be unreserved. Just don't have a seat number on the tickets. Surely then the people that sit will sit, the people that stand will stand, the people that want to be near the back will go there etc...

Off topic, but were you in the bottom tier mate? I was right next to them also, and probably because we were getting hammered and there wasn’t much going on second half at our end, I’ve got to admit I found it highly entertaining. One of our fans lost a Stone Island badge in our goal celebration and was frantically trying to find it just after half time. Then a shout of “Are you looking for this?” came from one of their lot, whilst waving the badge. lol

A few of ours were getting a bit wound up, but I think they had decent fans near where I was, and I shook hands with a couple at the end. It’s easy to feel superior when you’re winning every week though (I enjoyed it for a year!).

Some people don’t seem to watch much of the game do they? But fair play yesterday and our goal celebration was one I’ll  rememember for a while. It did shut them up for a while.

I go to games with my nan, and she physically cannot stand for 45 minutes, she'd be in absolute agony. I don't mind standing, and she wouldn't either if she was younger and it didn't hurt. but whats worse is if you get some smarmy piece of shit like the one next to us at the Chelsea away game who's all like 'oh I'm a girl and I have no issue standing they should stop being such wimps and just stand' like shut up you cretinous sack of dicks, see if you're saying that when your 70 years old.

Yeah I was bottom tier, had my black Leicester hat on as usual. The guy who lost the Stone Island badge was the row behind me and I was next to him on the train on the way home.

There were scenes when we scored though - as everyone surged I fell forward and would have totally gone if I wasn't being held lol

But their fans are annoying as fvck. Did you see the Man City fan in the blue hat he never looked at the game once!

Nail on the head.

We have a large, but very non-partisan fanbase.

Really irritates me when people don't stand up. I remember at Blackburn away, one middle-aged woman amongst a crowd standing up was telling everyone to sit down, where there was some lady in her 80's standing up next to me...

Like most people, I prefer standing at away games, but getting wound up because a bloke with 2 kids wants to sit down and watch the match?

Even if they did stand the kids wouldn’t have been able to see over you anyway.

To start a thread on here saying we all need to do one of the other lol Jesus wept.

I think we were same row then! Or were you just in front? I was with my lad with the red lensed glasses, on the end 2 seats right next to the segregation.

And I did see the guy with the hat. ?

The issue is that we need separate seating and standing areas. Simple as. I suffer with balance issues and standing in the same place for 45 minutes is an absolute nightmare for me. But I'm nowhere near disabled in a normal situation.

Anecdotes comparing a middle aged woman with an 80 year old are laughable and naive.

I prefer standing. It somehow makes me feel more involved. Maybe it’s because I can’t keep still. But I appreciate some people prefer sitting, or just can’t stand.

But @Vulpecula has reminded me of some photos I saw on social media from Peterborough in the cup. A girl in a wheelchair had a bloke standing right in front of her who wouldn’t either sit or move. He wouldn’t sit because everyone in front of him was standing too. I don’t think the stewards would get involved either and she couldn’t see a thing. That’s unacceptable.

As I say I prefer standing, but you’ve got to be aware of people around you. Anyone with any decency should be able to sort something out like swapping seats with someone who wants to sit, or if you have a steward who isn’t a jobsworth, seeing if they can sort something by letting you move. Away days I find are a bit more flexible, but occasionally I realise I have to bite the bullet and sit.
