Generally to answer, it's the manager who decides who plays and the formation adopted.

Specifically, Puel has accepted he got tactics wrong on Saturday, and against Man C when we changed formation for second half. It seemed in the first few games he was in charge we had a good balance between a more direct style and a more patient build up. There seems to be too much passing for the sake of it...highlighted with Kasper v Man C, but generally insufficient penetration with passes.  Against Stoke it seemed it was only the last 15 minutes we played with any urgency, although this was improved v B'mouth. Trouble was Vardy was isolated without Okazaki.  Puel had said we had we has too many strikers; true, but loaning both Ulloa & Slimani seriously cut down on options. Unfortunately Vardy & Iheanacho have not combined well as a partnership.

However, does anyone 'hate' Puel at this stage. There are signs we will be stronger in the future - and judging by Mahrez's reaction On Saturday he has played a huge part in reconciling him back in the team (for now!)

If we were to get a new manager again in the summer we may change the way we want to play again and then 8 games into the season be bottom and change manager again. He needs to start winning games again so the players confidence is back. Unfortunately due to a poor run 6 place looks out of the question as I can't see Arsenal bit picking any points up from now to the end of the season. Hopefully he gets rid of a few in the summer and gets some younger players in signs drago up permanent and tells a few players they will be squad players not first team any more and then see how he does. I'm sure once we get one win the results will pick up again. As for managers we could get in I can't imagine A big que of them that will be interested that are not the likes of pardew, allardyce etc. We may have money but so do most teams in the prem now. Managers would rather go to Everton or even West Ham before they chose to come here even if they are on a downward slide.

Given time I’m confident Puel can develop us into a team that consistently challenges for 5/6th place. (On occasion even better).

Our players are transformed under him in terms of confidence in posession and had individual errors not been so frequent we’d be 7th and he’d be loved the city over.

In truth I feel he’s made mistakes in starting 11s and a couple of substitutes, other than that he’s done well and will continue to do so, after the next two windows we will be able to see truly Puels Leicester.

It's because we're all impatient and don't believe there's a bigger picture down the road, we can't see further than the next match and we're judging the manager on the last match.

its the first time I haven't taken to a manager, I don't know if its just because he has no real character and doesn't really seem to bothered imo or his complete lack of English.

I do like what he has tried to do but some of his decisions as of late have been abit strange and the players don't seem to be taking to well to the new approach.

Nobody hates the manager, many are unimpressed with the teams performance levels especially at home. 6th place is there for the taking but we don't show a 10th of the fight, tempo or desire we've had over the past several seasons. Even great escape year we had something about us.

His tactical decisions are boggling at times, leaving Simmo out for Amarty who hadn't featured at all for 2 weeks and not having a suitable backup on the bench.
The last 2 games we've had 20+ corners, countless shots on target compared to the oppo, constantly whipping balls into the box but nobody is there because we shipped both our big men out on loan and decided not to replace them, Iheanacho is the worst player i've seen in a lcfc shirt since Akinbiyi, Oki is Oki,  So all we have for goals is Vardy & Mahrez, Midfield don't contribute enough goals to the team, so if Vardy and Mahrez are marked out the game we still have the same problem as we've always had...No Plan B.

It's not a case of people holding the team to the same standards to when we won the premier league, it's more a case of we know what they are capable but we'd rather play possession based football and we all know what we can achieve without playing possession based football so of course it's frustrating for fans.

The team is as responsible as the manager is, Do I want a new manager in - No, but if we don't start shaping up soon the pressure on him will only increase.

Results are what define opinions, it seems. The last 3 games weren't thrilling, I'll grant you, but if we had won all 3 games 2-1, which we could easily have done on the balance of possession, shots and chances, Puel would  probably be getting feted as the second coming, as we hunted down Arsenal. Some of the comments on here about being outplayed in these games, being defensive, not trying to win are laughable. We've had 53 shots in those games against about 15 for the opposition! We didn't have that many shots per game in the title winning season. It's just one of those runs every team gets from time to time. I, for one, still believe Puel is making positive changes on the whole.

half of them were against swansea where we played well

This. Give him time and I believe we will see the benefits. Some of his recent team selections and tactics have been a bit baffling but I'm sure he will take us forward. We have a good squad and hopefully he can improve it further.

Unfortunately the vocal minority are always reactive in a negative way as soon as we have a couple of bad results. I'm staying positive. 7th place and an FA Cup win are still possible. :scarf:

I think it's fairly obvious why people who like football would dislike Puel as a manager. It's the same reason people who like football dislike Allardyce & Pulis.

He's probably not quite as bad as them but he's not much fun. He doesn't believe in playing on the front foot and being positive, and he doesn't employ specific tactics which might breed confidence within the team. He reminds me of Sven - sending players out and they don't look either driven or like they know what they're doing.

So, even if you can ignore the fact he's a poor manager on an entertainment level, he's not a good manager on a technical level either.

I also think there are hundreds of managers out there who could get this group of players to midtable. Puel is just a run of the mill lower-average manager who is benefitting from Shakespeare being his predecessor.

And there's no evidence to suggest we're going forwards, in fact, if you consider that stanation is essentially regression since other teams will improve, then we're definitely going backwards. The only signs I see is of a team lacking direction, philosophy and the ability to create and score goals regularly.

In short, we're boring and ineffective.

I don't love to hate him at all, I want to love him but he is making it difficult. The football from City has not been overly pleasant to watch lately & the blame has to sit with him at least partially.

Apart from Diabate being offside when the ball was passed to him in the build up ?

another game whère ian nacho misses a simple chance. That’s everton, swansea and Bournemouth - apparently he is a natural finsisher. Guess he isn’t match sharp so we’ll lay off him on these.

A couple more draws and we will be 11th/12th. we won’t be going down but we will be solidly mid table

Agreed, the WBA match will be a turning point. If we lose we could see a further slump in form ( and let's be honest, form and tactics have not been good recently), this could end up with us scrapping around for points to get to the 'magical' 40+ points when we ought to be safe and going 100% for the cup.

PS. I've now supported LCFC for over 60 (yes 60) years which is probably longer than the Birch!

That's a good point but I'd still say he was in a handful of people in that time that would fall into that category.

lol -minus this lot Pleat was slightly before my time... Halloway was at least likeable until he became unbearable, the rest I'd say fall into the same category.

When senior players are asking the Manager what to do next, in the heat of the battle, surely there must be a communication problem. Lack of confidence will spread like wildfire - not good

Mr. Poohell, improve your English and communication skills before it's too late

I reckon there are a few players that feel the same, sadly
