I don't necessarily want him to be sacked. I'm just playing devils advocate.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was sacked, it wouldn't surprise me if he isn't. Frankly I'm not that bothered.

It wouldn't surprise me, ultimately they will think about whether it will affect viewing figures and make a decision on that I'd hope, rather than the act he's committed particularly. I'd imagine figures will go up if anything to see what Neville says about it.

I see spitting as the same as biting someone, complete lack of respect to someone else etc.

If he's on MNF later, he should apologise wholeheartedly imo.

I would be amazed if they put him on tonight.

They'll probably rope Henry or Lampard in. May even just have Neville.

Agree with most people here regarding a pox on both their houses - the dad was clearly exactly the kind of troll that folks should despise and generally ostracise just looking for a reaction, and Carragher was stupid enough to take the bait and disgusting enough to do it in the way he did.

Both of them should get in the sea - the only one with half a brain in this particular scenario is the daughter and I hope she ends up testifying in court regarding her dads driving without due care and attention.

I don’t even get why Carragher would allow himself to be wound up. He’s not a Liverpool player, he’s not even a Liverpool fan, if I’m driving I have the windows up the radio on and focusing on the road if anyone was trying to goad me they would have to go some way for me to even notice. If someone beeps at me I might look round maybe acknowledge them with a wave but I’m not going to roll the window down.

All the guy said was 2-1 and he gets gobbed on, pretty unpleasant. You can’t spit at everyone who brings up a bad result. I mean I work with an Arsenal fan he always brings up the result when we play and despite losing 6 of our last 7 against them in I’ve never spat at him, just spat in his tea that one time* and nobody saw.

*you all know which one

this is surely the interesting part. carragher says he’d been “goaded 3 or 4 times”, wonder what was said/done before the guy starts his video. the road from old trafford to liverpool is basically a straight line for about 40 minutes, this guy could’ve been swerving round him driving like a nob just to rile him for ages before this. i doubt that was his response to some random bloke saying “whey, 2-1”. must be more to it.

I'm not defending Carragher but he isn't worse than the driver for me. Spitting at someone is rancid but it isn't life threatening. Doing what the driver did while driving is.

If he got sacked he'd walk straight into BT or BBC or some foriegn network anyway lol

He would join keys and Gray in the Middle East, where disgraced sports presenters can have a safe space.

From a business point of view I didn't think he'd get sacked by sky to be honest with you (he still might not). But an immediate suspension is quite a surprise.

I’m not sure how popular he is, him and Neville started out as a good pairing because there was a bit of needle but Nev is widely respected for his punditry and Carragher gets in childish twitter arguments and is just unpleasant to listen to.

It’s a good excuse to get rid of him without being sued for unfair dismissal.

if he’s spat at her through her window and got her in the face that is great spitting, as spitting goes. what a shot son.

And I don't understand, if they were both travelling at any kind of speed, surely the gob would have been blown away?

Ever had that thing where you flick a cigarette end out of an open car window and it blows back in onto you, then have to frantically try to find it before sets fire to a) you, b) the car or c) both?

It looked like they were in traffic maybe stopped at the lights when he spat as it looks like the lights change and Carra pulls in front. Still dangerous driving but not speeding down the motorway at 70mph.

No it doesn't, the fact is it's got nothing to do with me or you. Why should I care if someone person I don't know spits on another gobby **** I don't know.

The law of the land.

The police and the courts and the people involved. If he's done something wrong, then the police can deal with it. If that person makes a complaint then I'm sure they will as there is enough evidence to prove the case, he then gets punished accordingly.

I don't believe in Kangaroo courts or punishments being selected by people on the internet. Suggesting anyone loses their livelihood because of that is ridiculous, I don't care if he's famous or rich or some bloke working in a factory living on minimum wage. A warning, a reprimand, sure... losing their job, no it's ridiculous.

Do I care whether a top pundit on a programme I often watch actually spits at a kid?

Yes I fookin do.

Sack the twat.

True. It will probably all come down to sky deciding whether they make more money from keeping him or whether they use it as an oppertunity to replace him.

I'm not really arsed about the whole thing but I reckon a fair few of the people clamouring for him to be sacked would think it was really unfair if they'd been sacked for the same thing. I'd imagine the the rebuttal would be "Well I'd never spit on someone" but any other unsavoury behaviour could be used in its place, he's a cünt, the dad is a cünt and this'll blow over. A suspension is about right.

In the job I do I’d be instantly suspended and most probably sacked. No doubt

Well you're a bit precious then aren't you. I presume you don't watch much on Sky or BBC if it affects you that much considering about half the people on the programmes have been arrested for one thing or another.

So did he manage to hit this girl that he was aiming at? Mad that he only did it at her considering it was her dad that seems to have been the one winding him up.

Spitting is a horrible response to be honest, though you imagine he probably spits between 50-100 times a day though the amount of phlegm he produces.

What a role model that dad is though. Any body that decides to film something on their phone to show on their little twitter page, just for the sake of being controversial should be given a mandatory 30 day prison sentence. I absolutely detest those kinds of people.

Pretty solid response from sky, take him out the firing line until the next thing happens and everybody is focusing their anger and rage at the latest social media scandal.
