As a Leicester fan i'm not that wound up that Vardy and Maguire aren't playing considering they both put in a serious shift 5 days ago.

 

But as an England fan you have to wonder what Gareth Southgate is doing to earn his 1.5m a year.

 

He doesn't know his best side. That's not a negative moan. That's the truth.

 

There's no way that Trippier, Gomez, Ox or Lingard should be starting against Tunisia so what the **** are they starting for tonight?

 

Mark Pougatch just said "It's audition time". No it ****ing isn't. We're 4 games off the tournament. Audition time was throughout the qualifying etc. I appreciate that every now and then there will be players that will deserve to play that might not have 4/5 months ago but ****ing hell, he doesn't know his goalkeeper, centre halves, central midfielders or strikers.

 

 

Jordan Henderson captaining England because he's the only one who shows any leadership is utterly depressing. Lee Dixon says he's first on the plane. **** sake we're so shit.

Have to say the team selection is a exercise in pandering to big clubs. Why does the FA allow this to happen and what do they get from it? In all seriousness can't imagine them taking back handers. Do they just think the big club players are better trained and rather have club mates playing together for cohesion?

Just seen Danny Rose there emulate Ben Chilwell. Great run, great control but then crossed ball was 30 yards from any white shirt. It’s strange but England are emulating Leicester here...

Also a case for them thinking they're big-time Charlie's playing for the top clubs where they expect to win at a canter. when in reality they're carried by their foreign teammates. At least if we had some players from Burnley or a Vardy type character starting for us they'd be used to fighting for every point to be earned.

Southgate making the same mistakes his predecessors made. Playing an incoherent system purely to shoe horn in players who play for top-6 clubs. At least when Sven did it with Lampard and Gerrard you could see why he'd want to find a way of getting players of that calibre on the pitch. But when you're talking relatively shit players like Lingard and Rashford it makes no sense at all. 

 

I wanted to give Southgate a chance but it's already a case of 'here we go again', we are doomed to fail with yet another incompetent coward in charge unfortunately.
