Am I expecting too much, or do we need to get 2 who can?

I think it's perfectly obvious that we need 2 new full backs.

We were told Chilwell was the next big thing...He's played plenty of games this season and still lacks any sort of final ball.

Simpson can get in the bin. Not an attacking full back at all.

Whilst I'm not singling him out, I did find myself tutting at the quality of Simpson's balls . . .

. . . then I opened my eyes and watched the game. Fnnar fnnar.

Luke Shaw

Long shot but Victor Moses? Still strange how his face fits at a club like Chelsea lol

My call also. Out of favour at Manchester United, received a lot of criticism from Mourinho. But that injury's really taking its toll.

Still, he has a great future ahead of him.

Simpson has been Mr Reliable for us for so long now but it still staggers me that a professional footballer,  at this level still cannot seem to hit a football correctly in the opposition half.

We should loan Chilwell/Amartey out for a year so they can play week in, week out, to improve their game and learn from their mistakes. (Mostly aimed at Chilwell tbh, Amartey has been solid when he’s played).

Sign a quality RB and LB, Simpson & Fuchs as back up is ok for another year. Then next summer Chilwell/Amartey will hopefully be ready to replace Simpson/Fuchs.

Shaw is on about £150k a week.

Players are allowed to accept a drop in wages

I see your point but his situation is different in how he wants to leave the club.

I'd expect him to go to Spurs.

The problem is we’re relying on full backs to provide the creativity.

Chilwell was fine tonight I thought, criticism is way over the top I thought. No lack of effort from Simpson but he knows he’s not good enough going forward.

The annoying thing is that they get in such good positions and get fed such good balls, it got to the point where I questioned why Simpson even tries to cross it when his previous seventeen attempts have not come off. Stay on the training ground and work on it, I'm not asking you to be Beckham just be able to lift the ball off the ground when necessary and put it past the first defender. Chilwell seems to have a reluctance to cross unless everything is set up perfectly in front of him with time and space to pick someone out - maybe the attitude Simpson should have. We play with two wingers and two centre halves so the full backs first role is to defend solidly, it's just so frustrating that they do get up there into good positions, so it's not about not joining in or having the engine to get up and down, it's about how little comes of it and how many attacks break down due to it.

We knew Simpsons limitations and in 2015/16 his was the one slot that was obvious for an upgrade. Still he, still doing his stuff. We know he cannot pass, cannot cross and cannot shoot so quite why Puel has him overlapping Mahrez is a mystery beyond mystery. He needs binning off to a Championship outfit ASAP.

We do have a passer crosser for LB called Fuchs. Puel is obviously thinking he is off soon so why not try to develop Chilwell to take over that role. He has had bags of game time and never excels. OK he has never re-plumbed the depth of his display against Milwall last year but he is a massive liability who isn't good enough to provide assists. He runs up the field and quickly out of ideas.

We have known the back line is either getting too old or of low quality for a good while now but replacements still don't get much better than go for the man Benny.
