Thought he did well for his first ever PL start against a very well organised team.  Nothing out of this world but looked composed.  Just watched his interview on LCFC too and I like the way he talks.  I know i probably put too much emphasis on this but I do like players who seem to be thoughtful and articulate.  X

From the bits I've seen he's really stepped up with better players around him. Perhaps he's been coasting at U23 level and this could kick him on. Could become a cult hero.

Would be great if the likes of Chilwell, Choudhury and Barnes can keep growing and become integral to the squad.

I'm not really in a position to say this, having no knowledge of how things happen within the club  (eg. In training etc), I guess it's just idle musing from afar, but i've often had this thought that youngsters should be given an opportunity more quickly than happens now - because you can never quite tell how well a youngster will step up when given the chance. And many seem to reach a point in the reserves when they go stale and their progress grinds to a halt, perhaps wastefully.

 

The point you make about having better players around you is relevant. As an example, the ability of a young player to slide good passes through will be enhanced by playing alongside firtst-teamers who make better runs to provide targets for those passes.

 

I don't forget, though, that the ultra-competitive nature of the Prem makes it harder for managers to take the risk of pushing young players in. I hope Hamza continues to progress. Good to see a Loughborough lad making it!

The likes of Rashford and McTominnay were bang average in the United youth/u23 teams but have done well in the senior sides. Weird, but Hamza may well go on to better things in the seniors.

Hamza was very often our best u23 player, I thought. I wasn't sure he'd step to the next level quite as well as he's done though. I hope he gets a little more time this season for his development.

I look forward to seeing him become an important member of the squad. He's fought and clawed for his opportunities - and that graft is exactly the thing we're lacking at the moment...well, *one* of the things.
