As much as I have loved Mahrez and am going to mourn when he's gone (!), I think relying so much on one player is really dangerous. He could so easily get injured at the start of the season and then what... I hopeful with where we appear to be heading that with upgrades in these key areas that the team will be greater than the sum of its parts.

i agree.

I really hope Gray kicks on not only for our sake, but his own as well. A few good games at the start of the season with assists/goals would do wonders for confidence. As opposed to a good game here and there.

Diabate has made a bright start but obviously less experienced than Gray despite being the same age as Gray.

You'd hope Silva (and maybe Maddison if he comes here) will provide some creative threat too.

I still have high hopes for Silva (and I think that's justified), and would love to have Maddison here. You can tell Nacho is going to come good (great end to the season for him) and he and Diabate showed signs of linking up well. I just don't see where Gray fits in here though, sadly.

Maddison is a central midfielder, usually in an attacking role.

Mahrez is a winger.

In terms of creativity, Maddison isn't up the Mahrez standard (obviously) but would be a much-needed addition in that respect for the team.

Do you think we’ll try to play a 3 man midfield? Ndidi holding, with Maddison and Grealish the playmakers and driving forward with the ball which we haven’t had since Kante.

Or will it be more of a 4-2-3-1 with Maddison in the 10 position and Silva/Ndidi holding ?

With the defensive business addressed and our squad considerably stronger there, this is the signing I now really want to happen. Maddison looks a real talent. Some of the flighted through balls, set piece deliveries and strikes and long range goals in that video are disgusting. Could be a great foil for Vardy and really relieve some of the goalscoring pressure when Mahrez departs

Grealish isn't coming here.

Got to sign this lad, can definitely see him fitting in well and his quick brain will work well with Vardy, agree with the comments about Gray and just can’t see him fitting in with Iheanacho and Diabate in front of him in the pecking order, not forgetting Albrighton as well, maybe a loan to a Championship club...

I actually think a three man midfield of Ndidi, Silva and Maddison would be an ideal blend. The ball winner, the box-to-box and the playmaker. Would work in a 4-3-3 or a 3-5-2.

Pretty sure its Bale. Only Spurs player I can think of that would be referred to as that.

Cue the inevitable tabloid exposé when he signs because Narch aren’t high profile enough.

Hm okay, well I still think it's an idiotic thing to post in a public forum like Twitter, but preferable to what it looks like out of context.

I'm not impressed either. Goes against what I've seen in his interviews as comes across very grounded and decent professional who would be smarter than throwing around the word 'Monkey'. I agree it was directed at Bale, but still dumb. Sounds more like a tweet Grealish would come out with.

I’m sure he’s matured a bit in the 4 or 5 years since it was posted

Sure, I'm not saying I'm an angel myself, but still not an okay thing to say.

Couldn't agree more. It's an insult that I can't think of people just throwing around casually.

As the others have said, he seems to have matured and I do believe in people being allowed to learn from their mistakes - especially when they're young. Just a bit disappointing, as you've suggested.

Its not the best thing at all, I completely agree, but at the same time, the world has become significantly more strict on the use of words like that in past few years.

Edit: Not condoning this at all btw, its a poor comment

Crikey get a grip folks, this was a daft Tweet from a kid years ago, monkey or chimp is referring to Gareth Bales ears. I wonder if the lad reads this forum, could be Everton bound if he does....:dunno:
