Without sounding more of a bimbo or anything will Maddison be a replacement for Mahrez? Or is Roberts the intended replacement? In which case who would Maddison be replacing? Shinji/Silva/Nacho? Or is he just an addition to the squad?

And if we do get Maddison will we still want Roberts. If not then will then will the Mahrez to Man City deal have to be looked at again with just an offer of £££ ?

Confused.com

I think the fact we seem to be pressing on with this without the Mahrez sale having gone through means that this sale is unrelated, so no, not a replacement. I wouldn't be surprised if we change formation next year, so who knows who he would replace, and also by that logic, if we would be looking for a player with similar attributes to Mahrez or not.

I'm not particularly worried, just shocked at how many now consider it the norm. It does make me chuckle that so many of the people in this thread acting like it's nothing, or critisising those who think the fees are a tad ludicrous, are some of the very first ones to lose their shit when they realise we've spent £25m on a donkey. (Not saying that's you by the way.)

Understood ;)

I picked on Koke a bit there as he was the latest in a long line saying something along those lines.

I'm not really saying £20m is nothing now, more that transfer fees, reported or otherwise, should be taken with a pinch of salt whether that's now or even years ago. I simply don't believe clubs are ever honest about fees. £20m on James could be as little as £4m up front with lots of installments and then future incentives.

I've always been of the belief that an announced fee is simply PR/Marketing to appease fans of the selling team/buying team

Well I don’t think you will ever beat my source of information

i once slept with a 3ft 2inch lady (not short on information ) who was the second cousin of the cashier at Morrison’s who served the chauffeur driver of the former chairman of a major company. This chairman once had dinner with a former players uncle who had told him who told his chauffeur who told the cashier that the next player we might sign is Johann Cruyff

although it has had to be said the info is from 1981 so might not be that helpful now?  :dunno:

Anyway just thought i would pass it on, and if you don’t believe me I won’t ever post anything on here again

ever

i mean it

ever

Gerrimin, also, ive heard there is a good young player Geoffrey Lineker or something.. need to give him a run in the 1st team :schmike:

You rate Maddison and Roberts lower than someone who has done next to nothing for villa and an 18 year old who has played 1 season in turkey?

Sorry to wind it back a bit but the mention of fax machines just tickles me (I'm easily amused) I just can't believe transfers are reliant upon them. That's why the Silva deal was 14 seconds late, no fekka could remember where a) the fax machine was and b) how it worked. It'd probably dumped in the stationery cupboard with the printer ribbons.

I live in the States and people use fax machines on a daily basis, it's mad. Has something to do with it being more secure than email or summit but it still baffles me.

We still use them in our offices in the US, we were told because the internet connection in those area are not so reliable, which is correct for a progressing 2nd world country, the internet outages are way too common.

Just been looking at Skybet, Leicester are now favorites to sign him, yesterday it was Everton today it's us. Dunno what to make of it. Yesterday I read that Marco Silva was a fan of his and Everton were favourites. Today we are favourites!

The Everton link was completely made up by Skybet yesterday and there is nothing in it. A fresh newspaper article with a Leicester link came up today which prompted a few quid going on us and making us favourites again. Evens is rubbish odds mind, 16s was available in April when the link first came up and I don't think there's been that much change in the situation since, apart from him picking up an injury.

Leicestershire Live are reporting a factor that might make Maddison more likely to choose us.  He is in a business venture with (ex-) fellow Cov player Conor Thomas (now at Cheltenham), to Coach kids in Coventry.  I wonder whether Conor is any relation to George Thomas - they didn't mention that.  Even if George is not related to Maddison's partner, there's obviously a Cov connection between them - I don't know if they played together.
