There's no way they're going to go to the trouble of removing the roof, adding adding an additional tier above/behind an existing one(s), and then adding a new roof, with all the engineering complications, structural changes and expense that it'll entail, just for an extra 3 or 4 thousand seats.  We'd be left with a tiny but very expensive new section which only contains about 7 rows, and still have the same problem that demand far exceeds supply.  They've got to be looking at 40000+ surely.

Since we returned to the Premier League, every game at the stadium has been full (with the exception of part of the away end a few times), and that's with an expensive membership scheme that only allows people a chance at buying a single seat, and makes it difficult for non members to get a ticket at all.  Selling 30,000 season tickets is a reasonable target. then another 10,000 for non-season ticket holders, away fans and corporate means that 40,000 minimum for most games is achievable.  A fair comparison is Sunderland.  Capacity 48,000, average Premier League attendances were around 42,000.  Rarely went below 40,000, usually full for the big games.

With Swansea, Watford and Palace all looking to expand to 30,000 plus, and traditionally smaller clubs such as Brighton, Southampton and to a lesser extent Stoke, already at that 30,000 level (plus Derby and Cardiff City potentially coming up with bigger grounds than us), we need to elevate ourselves to the next level.

As recent Premier League Champions, the most populous city in the East Midlands, a huge catchment area with no major clubs to the South until London and none to the east until Norwich, and with all three local rivals currently in a lower division, now is the time to tap into that.

In my opinion there's a slight overestimation of how difficult it would actually be to do one side but you're probably right the expansion should be at least 5-6k increase getting closer to 40. Besides - upping it to 45k+ would require the roof to come off still anyway so? Its a very basic stadium design that can be easily added to. There are even pictures floating around of an extension:

I honestly think they will expand a side at a time and monitor how well it does. It's a big undertaking and they will want to make sure it's worthwhile. If they chuck loads of money and time at it and we end up going down those numbers will mean nothing. Not to mention the complete disruption doing it all in one go would mean. We would have to play somewhere else for a season I would imagine. It couldn't be done in a summer. Just to be clear I don't doubt it will all be expanded eventually just not in one foul swoop.

Wolves are expanding Molineux a section at a time as seen below:

Eventually it will all be the same height all the way round. They have a similar catchment to what you mentioned for us - drawing in Staffordshire/Shropshire/Worcestershire and actually have a huge following. They reckon this will eventually be close to 48k but it will take time. I know they are seperate blocks but it will all be joined up eventually.

I believe adding extra standard seats will be just be a by product of their main aim which will be to make it an impressive stadium with extra revenue stream making additions like more corporate boxes/seating, better conferencing facilities, external retail outlets for drink/food merchandise possibly as part of a fans village which others have mentioned plus throw in a few thousand extra seats where there is space to put them.

Their interests lies in appearance (glamour) as we've seen from the training ground proposals and additional income streams.

Potentially yes to all of those things. I hope they understand that won't sit well with anyone but I can see that being the reality as well. However do conference booking fees really out do football money? I'd say no. The owners need to be careful how they tackle all of this. It won't ever satisfy everyone but it has to satisfy enough people.

The thing with conferencing/exhibition space is that it doesn't matter what league you're in the revenues will be maintained. Anything that brings in 'None football' money provides a finacial cushion. Someone mentioned concerts I think that's another area they'll consider making it easier to stage.

Spurs new stadium is going to have its own artisanal bakery on site.  We should have one of these for the hipster visitors to the stadium.

I want a King Power artisanal cob to enhance my matchday experience..

Does have a certain ring to it.

Didn't realise we had the ministry of truth operating within the offices at the ground.

It is exactly like that isn't it? It's as if someone's read that book as an instruction manual!

I can't see them doing things halfheartedly- they have just announced plans to relocate from a perfectly adequate training ground to a state of the art complex. They want us, and King Power, to be seen in the highest regard- I think the plans will be pretty impressive when they get released.

It’s not as if Vichai will be overseeing a fan park himself, it’ll be down to Stuart Johncock the marketing chief and he’s not a football fan. The club routinely miss the mark about what fans want because the FCC and the Your 90 minutes meetings are full of West standers and they take their input onboard about the temperature of the pies rather than actual fan issues like safe standing.

1. Both ends to take the increase, would like another 3k-ish behind both goals rather than just expanding the East Stand.

2. Some nod to our heritage instead of King Power being plastered everywhere.

3. Buses to take fans back to the centre/ train station.

I hope they'll relocate the blue bricks if they are to be obscured by any future development. Many of those names are sadly no longer with us.

They're part of our history and should always be preserved for future generations.

I'm well aware of this, you should have seen the book they created. Henry Winter referred to it in his piece a while ago, but this book basically rewrites our history and says that the club had never survived in the top league, no mention of Pearson whatsoever either. It's one of the reasons I get frustrated with them, sure they've done a good job with the club but to ignore the history of the place is very disappointing, and just demonstrates how egotistical they are and that they do in fact want to create KPFC.

Not surprised with this. Have you got a link to the article?

Ejector seats for those that misbehave :sweating:

Somewhere to refill my flask at half time, the other week when it had snowed I approached a member of staff serving refreshments in the concourse and asked if she would kindly put some hot water in it, I just got a blank look on her face in return.

To add insult to injury, when I had got past all the riff raff down in the concourse area and finally returned to my seat, my tartan blanket had dropped on the floor in the snow along with my clapper, ruined it was.

I did ask a friendly looking steward for a replacement to which he just laughed at me.

Not what I expect during a match day experience.

Wolves have nothing like the catchment we have.
