He's staying boys.

Man City looking at alternatives for the midfielder from Napoli as no fee has been agreed.

All the talk of these two deals being done last week was very premature.

Interesting... it has seemed surprising that they hadn't been able to progress with this yet after knowing it was on the cards for so long. What now...

Riyad should just sign another 5 year deal with us, with a massive pay increase, and see his career out here.

I could live with that... I doubt he could though :(!

I know it won't happen... but could you just imagine if he did stay... Assuming we get James Maddison in (still within the net budget) and then we definitely have Pereira and Evans coming in to, would really be able to push next year.

It seems to me like we’re building around Mahrez with our first signing and likely second signing.

Would be insane if he *didn’t* leave - but if we offered him another £15 million or something over the life of his deal, it would be pence on the pounds compared to replacement cost.

To be clear, I know how ridiculous this pie-in-the-sky dream is.

I’m still dreaming!

Top 6 and a cup if he stays, no excuses

At least six reasons that speak against that league scenario:

Manchester City

Manchester United

Liverpool FC

Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea FC

Arsenal FC

Cup? Who knows... :fc:

I honestly believe Evans and Ricardo solve our two greatest problems, with some consistency against the smaller teams next season we could see ourselves sneak in I hope.

Imagine a unicorn riding a flying pig.

That's more realistic than us getting in the top 6.

Definitely. Above Arsenal for sure, potentially Chelsea.

The big boys have been underperforming even with top signings in recent years, I can certainly see that continuing

What has Jorginho got to do with riyad ??

Basically just slightly suggests the transfer isn't as nearly as close as people are thinking, although I feel like im clutching as straws he did say he's withdrawing his transfer request?

So he gets his loyalty bonus on completion of sale (and he looks like a good boy to any suitor)

no other reason

There's no guarantee that's is or isn't the case, we'll just have to see; i'm taking a more optimistic view

Do you seriously believe the little bugger wants to stay here ?!? ...    you’ll be telling me next that Putin is a really nice chap and all he really wants is world peace ...

Really don't understand why some people are pissed off and considering a player who wants to go as some sort of Judas. Especially when it comes to Mahrez.

I'm genuinely baffled by this misplaced outrage and the deluded belief in some sort of expected loyalty from a man who's paid to play for a club.

Players come and go, that's how it always was.

No matter what he might think, he's done here and the story has to come to an end. Him staying would be catastrophic from every point of view.

Oh he definitely doesn't want to stay, but he might have come round to the idea the owners aren't gonna let him go on the cheap
