They got relegated. I think plenty of us felt that if we'd really gone for it last season we could've finished 7th. With a bit more quality maybe have challenged Arsenal for 6th. There's a gap to the top 6 but it's achievable with ambitious, wealthy owners and a well run club. It may take 5 years but it has to be the aim. When the opportunity comes you have to have the attitude to take it. Surely we all learnt that in 2015-16. To progress and attract better quality players we must have high aspirations. We also should have a long term plan, and I feel our poor finish to the season was, apart from the injury list, part of implementing that long term plan (I keep repeating this to myself every 14 seconds) 1
Wymsey Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 Seems quiet on this front, especially after numerous talk last week that he had been due to leave imminently.
SecretPro Posted 8 June 2018 Posted 8 June 2018 I think he's staying. He's seen Ricardo come in and knows we could be a force. 1 1

Until he realises his fantasy of playing on the world stage (in a team which he believes reflects his talent), then City will be burdened by his unwillingness to commit 100%. He believes he's done his bit and City are being bloody-minded in not having facilitated his transfer - forget the fee he goes for, which is immaterial to him. He believes he should be ushered out on a red carpet to the land of his dreams. I've lost belief in him and I'm pretty loyal when it comes to blokes who've worn the royal blue - especially the Pearson/Ranieri side. I've always thought that Mahrez would be a problematical player wherever he went. Whyever Guardiola would place so much trust in a real 90 minute, full-on player emerging from his chrysalis to wow the sky-blue Mancunians belies his obvious managerial nouse. The media keep fanning the flames of Mahrez' forthcoming departure but nothing's really happening - and I'd imagine everyone concerned would want a done-and-dusted deal by now. He's not WC tied so why the wait? If Man City have been in talks with City since the winter window closed then why no conclusion to the saga? Are his representatives waiting to see if anyone else comes calling? “Thinks he’s done his bit”?? He did much more than that! Riyad is one of the finest players to wear the shirt & has given us moments that will live in the memory forever. He’s a one off that we’re unlikely to see again in our lifetime & was an integral part of our success so to forget all of that and fire off comments about his ‘problematic’ & premadonna attitude is very harsh & extremely disrespectful. He’s more than paid his dues to us and definitely deserves the chance to show his talent at the elite level and u can’t blame him for wanting that. It also speaks volumes about his talent that Pep, the best manager in World football who can sign pretty much any player he wants wants him in his squad! 13 1

UPinCarolina Posted 9 June 2018 Posted 9 June 2018 If there’s not action on the Mahrez front in the next two weeks, I’ll be very suspicious. Something will have certainly gone awry.

As for Mahrez, i genuinely think some on here need to see a psychiatrist. He's off, although he had his moments he'll leave having been pivotal to a feat that'll never be bettered (imo) and goes with my admiration and thanks. His small indiscretions aside, I couldn't hold it against him for what he actually did for us. One of the greatest ever to wear our shirt. Katy Posted 9 June 2018 Posted 9 June 2018 I guess now the friendly matches are done we’ll see some activity, if not then this mo fo is going to drag on all summer ?

lcfc sheff Posted 9 June 2018 Posted 9 June 2018 There's more things hinting he could be staying than going, I'm more inclined to believe that evidence than any supposed ITK
RODNEY FERNIO Posted 9 June 2018 Posted 9 June 2018 The reaction on the big club's forums would be hilarious if he did decide to stay ... unfortunately think he'll be gone next week. 1

I expect pep and others required for both the media side and logistical one are intending going to Russia at some point. This will also be Man City’s record signing and they will want to present it before the hullabaloo of the WC begins and unforeseen events potentially take media precedence.

I've never understood how football clubs got themselves into a position whereas they pay the agents and not the footballers. If you were buying a house then you wouldn't expect the estate agent to bill you and not the seller. I'm probably overlooking something but you would think the footballer employs the agent so it's his responsibility to pay him. What would be hilarious is if Mahrez never got his "dream move" to Man City because his agent torpedoed it because he wasn't getting enough money despite Leicester, Man City and Mahrez all being happy with the fee/wages.

No but you have to pay a solicitor which the agent seems to think he is
