You can have Dyche....0-5 at Arsenal deserves the sack on its own - utterly embarrassing! Must have lost the dressing room. No win in 4 games and couldn't even beat Brighton at home.

How do you fluke a 38 game season? Twat.

By his own logic then Huddersfield fluked promotion last season because the top 6 in the Championship didn't 'turn up for a season' either.

He's right about some fans being deluded idiots but I think most want to see us doing a bit better than we are and I don't see anything wrong with that.

It wasn’t exactly the norm us winning the league though was it and I took that as what he meant. We obviously didn’t fluke the league as in being lucky week in week out.

We didn’t fluke anything. I knew these types of criticisms would come as soon as we went back to midtable.

We were the most consistent and best team. End of, oh and we won the league by 10 points. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional and jealous.

Spurs sure turned up that season though! And pushed us! And Arsenal beat us twice! Some sets of fans are just jealous!

I think you're still not getting this.

As an outsider, you can simply look at the league position and not understand our concern and frustration.  As an outsider you will not have seen Puel turn us from a decent side pushing or Europe at the beginning of the year into the worst team in the League - 10 points from 12 (will be 14) games, 4 wins in 19 (will be 21), taking that form into next year we will be relegated with 27 points.

As an outsider, you will not have seen how we have become a team that in recent weeks has been soundly outplayed and dominated by Newcastle, Palace, Brighton and even Burnley for goodness sake!   West Ham thought they had their best performance of the season last week.  No, it was just because they were playing us.  As an outsider, you will not know the feeling that you just know your team will lose regardless of the opponents.

As an outsider, you will not know that this team is playing with the footballing equivalent of chemical castration.  Puel's brand of pedestrian, horizontal, straight-jacketed football nullifies our strengths and does not work in the Premier Leagueand he has form.   Ask a Saints fan.

This is not a bad patch.  It's not a collection of off days since January.  This is a trend, this is Puel's tactics coming to bear and it will send us down, there is nothing more certain.  Many of us have been patient but it has become ever more obvious.  The proverbial blind man in a coal cellar could see that.

Absolutely this 1000%. There can be no doubt, he’s the French Peter Taylor.

If this slump started 6 weeks earlier we could be going down this season. Luckily we have managed to stay midtable and top half, which is unbelievable given our relegation form for the last 19 games. That really is a testament to how poor the Premier League is actually.

Napoli will be calling once their manager goes

We need Benitez more than any other to provide a period of stability. Its crazy the amount of managers we've had over the last few seasons. Everyone wants Wagner, but what does he offer more that Puel does, just one season in the Prem League and Puel has 1.5 seasons. They both lack experience and know-how that the league demands. Benitez has more than enough experience to deal with every situation, whatever it costs he has to be the main contender.

Really think the counter attacking and pressing football that Wagner promotes will get the best out of our current squad. Players in our squad are built for hunting down the opposition and winning back possession, and getting on the counter. This Gengenpressing seems to be a very trendy style of football at the moment thanks to Klopp and Guardiola, but I really think it's the best style for our current side.

I read that lots of Huddersfield's goals come from low passes, low crosses and through balls - that's meat and drink for Jamie Vardy.

There's a bit of a myth that our players are workshy - I don't think that's the case at all, they seem to struggle with and lose interest in systems where they don't feel they're being utilised best, but I don't think they could ever be classed as lazy. Leicester under Pearson and Ranieri were some of the hardest working Leicester sides I've ever seen. I don't think they'd have issues with training/working hard in games provided it's in a system that gets the best out of them. The idea they seem to have that they 'know best' is slightly worrying though. Probably need to get that Sports Psychologist back on the books!

Be interesting to see the comments on Wagner when his team get trounced on Wednesday night in a match that means something to them.

Howe, Wagner and Dyche have all been thrashed..i remember Bournemouth getting 0-5/0-6 hammerings at home to Spurs and Man City. Dyche just got done 5-0.

Absolute no way any of them will succeed here. They'll inevitably go on a really bad run, despite sitting top half, and the knives will be out, "we have won 3 in 11, GET HIM OUT!!!!"

Benitez has quietly lost three on the spin as well, including at home to West Brom. Even managers that people unrealistically want here have shite runs in this terrible league. I want us to think out the box with the next appointment, we won't though.

I bet you thought that before the Man City game?

You have to look at it that they are a very small club in premier league terms with limited resources and with some players from their League One days.  They have over preformed this year and last.  They haven't been in the top division previously since T-Rex were strutting their stuff.

You may not want or like Wagner, fair enough, but I think that it would be very difficult to argue that he hasn't done well with Huddersfield.

They have what they have. They are hanging on by the skin of their teeth, they play some boring defensive football. I have nothing against Wagner but I think people who are heralding him and others as our saviour will soon be calling for their heads. None of those mentioned are any better than Puel who people want out after the few months he's been here.

I'm not anti-wagner. I'm anti change for change's sake and moaning FTers.

If we can't get an elite coach like Blanc or Enrique (who aren't working) then I see no point in giving up on a manager before he's had a chance to set out his stall. The worst thing we can do is keep changing managers every few months.

Posted

Far too defensive minded for me. People can argue that he has done what is necessary this season with very limited resources, but even in the Championship, they went up with a -2 goal difference! Brighton went up with +34! Hughton > Wagner.

He may not be a pure hoof guy like Big Sam, but his objectives would be very similar e.g Keep it tight, try nick a goal. Happy with a point!

Many will think that with a bigger budget and better players, he may change this style.. but how many managers have we seen stubbornly stick to their philosophy no matter what the club or transfer budget. We've got a stubborn git now and his inability to be flexible and adapt, is costing us sorely!

He may get a job elsewhere and prove me wrong or he may even start doing it with Huddersfield but the warning signs are there, and I don't want such a defensive minded manager here. There are a good handful of options better IMO.

In half a season - last 19 games -we’ve collected 18pts.

Relegation form, should not be tolerated with the squad of players we have.

I wonder how our precious players will react to double training sessions. lol

There was a report that the players were saying that the training is not intense enough under Puel a few weeks ago.

So maybe you can’t beat them with that stick.

Thrashings are a lot easier to take if you can see there's been some effort or application from the players, or the manager has set the side up the right way and we've just been beaten by a better side. Games like Palace, where the formation is baffling, the subs even more so and the performance was absolutely atrocious - well, that's a completely different story. At least with Benitez, Howe and Dyche you get a sense of what they're trying to do.

There was a point during the great escape season where I think we lost 10 out of 11 games - that was shit, but you could at least see that the players were trying their hardest and that there was a system in place to get us playing the right way. The fans held on - despite a fair bit of discontent - and we pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in PL history, which laid the foundations for the Prem win. With Puel you can't see any discernible style or system that he's trying to implement, you can't see what he wants his side to achieve, we seem to be getting worse with each game that passes, the team seem to have lost confidence in the manager, he comes out with comments in the press that are baffling and fail to address the blindingly obvious issues with the team's performances... I've just got no faith in the man. Never booed a City manager or team in my life, but I was booing at the top of my lungs after that Palace game.

I’m not deliberately trying to get on your back.....

but, what are you suggesting 18pts from 19 games is fine and we shouldn’t be considering a replacement for Claude?

I've watched them a few times this season and I've never noticed them playing the high press. He's clearly done a superb job at Huddersfield but I'm not sure he is what we need here. They are the lowest scorers in the Premier League and last year somehow managed to come up despite having a negative GD and only scoring 56 goals in 46 games.

Whether that will change if he has a few quid to spend and he'll be more expansive I don't know but given the reaction to the football we've seen from Puel it looks a very risky choice.

I think there is a difference between an intense session and having to go in for night training as well as your morning session. By all accounts he also insists on players living near the club.
