Were Puel to go I would personally quite like Wagner. Yes they have played some negative football this season, but were Huddersfield to stay up he has worked miracles. He'd certainly make us defensively sound which we haven't been for a while now and you'd like to think that, with an improved budget, he could improve us going forward also. Unlike Dyche I think Wagner is possibly a more expansive manager given the environment to do so.

Saying that you don't want him because of his style of football is completely justified, but saying that you don't want him (or any other manager like Dyche) because he's not big enough for our club stinks of self entitlement. Title win aside (a big aside, granted) we aren't as fantastic draw for potential managers/players as some seem to think. Yes we are more wealthy than most of the drab around us, but equally as uninspiring at this current moment in time. I just cannot see Benitez and co being interested if available either, though I would be happy to be proven wrong.

Just had a look...

They won 22/25 games by just one goal and had four matches where they lost by three or more goals, including a 5-0, 4-0 and 3-0 loss.

Only one game in the season did they win by three clear goals!

So of the 22 games they won they only had a GD of +22. With 15 defeats over the season that means the GD was +7 before you count the losses and the other matches they won by more than a goal.

Not sure this much detail was necessary

Interesting! I can't work out whether this was down to Wagner achieving something out of a very ordinary set of players that he really shouldn't have done, or if he's quite limited tactically. They seem neither a defensive type of team due to often shipping goals but also not free scoring (sound familiar). I just have a bad feeling about this if we got him, I was previously a fan of his and am sure he'll do fairly well throughout his career but he doesn't seem to be suited to us lot.

Jokanovic from Fulham is the one for me

I like watching Fulham when they're on tv, in fact I like watching them more than Wolves.

If we do get rid of Puel and get someone else we will need to do it very quickly.

They will need to be brought in with enough time to be able to assess the squad and decide what they want to do with it.

Players will be going off at the start of June for International Duty with Friendlies and the World Cup, which will give whoever is in charge, probably at most 2 weeks to interact with his players, after the Spurs game, if the players aren't going on Holiday.

Then during the World Cup period, with the calibre of players we are hoping to be after, it would not surprise me if they mostly going to be in Russia, making it much harder to sort out transfers over this period, so basically think of it as not much transfer action until after the Final on 15 July 2018.

Then you need to remember that this year we have got the transfer window closing early on 9th August 2018, so 3 weeks after the players come back from Russia the window will close.

This summer could very easily be terrible for the club, because even if we can get the manager we want in, at most he will only have maybe 5 weeks at interacting and getting to know his squad, signing the players he wants, and getting them integrated, and getting them to play his system.

I'm till baffled how Huddersfield went up with a negative goal difference? Did they take some absolute hammerings to distort the numbers? It's absurd.

Think they sealed their place in the playoffs when they were in 3rd, once they sealed it they didn't win another game until the playoffs themselves and ended up finishing 6th.

We really are on the verge of a total disaster this summer.

Having royally ****ed up every window since the PL win with poor / late signings we're the weakest we've been in some time.

With the World Cup in the way, as you've very well mentioned - the window for assessing / choosing and acquiring targets is minimal.

Considering we can't sign shit on time in a normal window I can imagine us totally ****ing this one up.

I'd imagine that, if people are doing their job properly, Puel has already discussed a list of who needs to go / who he wants in and work should have been started some time ago in preparing for talks with players and agents.

If Puel goes then we're back to square one.

We wiill need a manager who can, unfortunately, piece something together out of the busted ****ing jigsaw we've now got and we're going to have to go again and have another 6 months of watching the same shit, different day until January by which point it may be too late to salvage out PL status.

It's a joke that we're even in this position at all tbh.

I've watched them a few times this season and I've never noticed them playing the high press. He's clearly done a superb job at Huddersfield but I'm not sure he is what we need here. They are the lowest scorers in the Premier League and last year somehow managed to come up despite having a negative GD and only scoring 56 goals in 46 games.

Whether that will change if he has a few quid to spend and he'll be more expansive I don't know but given the reaction to the football we've seen from Puel it looks a very risky choice.

Hard to say whether he's done the best he can with limited resources, or if Huddersfield is the limit of what his style of football can achieve - and whether having better players/a bigger budget will lead to improvement in terms of goals scored etc. But that's the gamble, I suppose. I personally think they've had to cut their cloth a bit this season in terms of how they play, and do the best with what they have in order to ensure survival. I know a couple of Huddersfield fans who've said they pressed and attacked more last season. I'll be interested to see if he tries to switch things up a bit next season, if he isn't here of course.

Puel will go. Let's stop beating a dead horse. This is about his replacement, and the reality is fans like you will give Wagner 6 months before hounding him out. You will give him zero time to bin off players one by one and zero time for him to build something, you will quite bis win ratio 8 billion times as if we weren't aware of it. So bringing Wagner or Rafa is pointless, unless they work miracles with this squad.

1. Do you agree with sacking Puel or not?

2. Or is anyone who thinks he should go, a total Philistine as you seem to be making me out to be.

Q1. If the answer is yes; then what are you on about if we agree on the point.

Q1. If no is the answer with all due respect you are I believe very wrong.

Q2. Why do you seem to think you are taking the morale and intellectual high ground?

I mean to say, you appear to believe that in giving this manager more than 35 games or blaming it all on the players it somehow gives you that position?

My view is we’ve seen quite enough to know that getting rid is the correct decision, whilst stating the obvious that who knows what the next guy will do

Another good one.

A bit on the quiet and calm side for those who care about a manager’s demeanor. But he gets a lot out of his wingers and the play would be fun to watch with our guys.

If he doesn't hit the ground running and we aren't sitting 7th for most of the season he will ger the same treatment as Puel get, even if Wagner is trying to build something he will have zero patience from our fans and all you will hear from them is about his win radio in the last 18 games or something.

I actually hope he stays at Huddersfield or go somewhere where he will get more than 1 transfer window before he becomes a hashtag.

......not sure I can agree with this!!!

If Wagner has us sitting 7th for most of the season and the players are putting in a shift then I can see no problem with the supporters. I assume your post was meant to be flippant and not a true reflection of your understanding of this football club.

We would not be in this position if Puel had us showing some sort of will to win matches and with any improvement in our play.

If they stay up I should think Wagner will stay with them.  They might lose one or two players they don't want to lose this summer though.   I can well sympathise with the Huddersfans position, we said all the same things before Martin left us.

i thought 'we' or the players or whatever don't like possession football?

We need a manager who's style is compatible and that has a personality to bond with the players and fans. He ticks the boxes, I think a clear out of players and whatever the new manager wants is the best way forward anyway, it's just Puel seems to have royally ballsed it up in the last few months and won't get the chance to do that. I crave a huge change at director level too, Rudkin and Whelan have had howlers.

See I don’t agree with your hounding out comments

if we as fans saw some progress with a new manager either results or an improvement in tempo and or style of football i am sure most fans would give that manager chance

Puel has us playing boring turgid sideways football with no passion or aggression etc. We are sliding down the table and could still end up 14th yet

he need to be sacked as soon as possible

the next appointment is crucial but like I say whoever that is will be given chance as long as there are some signs of progress
