I think he will be ready for the start of the season or extremely close, as his injury wasn't as bad as first feared and was always likely to be back for pre-season on the time-scale he was given. Really need him ready to start in that no.10 role for the opener. Hopefully going to be a key player for us

In the wide striker rather than wide midfielder mold though, at CSKA and with Nigeria, he's been a striker that drifts into the channels, not a winger that tracks up and down supporting the fullback. 2

I don't know whether he'd come good or not but I question whether he's been given a fair crack at proving it, likewise with Krameric, Mendy and others. He has made 33 appearances for us and not impressed. I'd say that was a fair chance to show something at least. He hasn't even impressed for the U23s.
murphy Posted 6 July 2018 Posted 6 July 2018 I had hoped we might mug another club into buying Musa on the back of one bright game at the WC. Judging by this thread we are just going to mug ourselves into keeping him. We really should know better. 3

Maybe, just maybe we played him in the wrong role the whole time? Could explain why he's been so very underwhelming in an LCFC shirt so far. The thing is, we've got Vardy and Iheanacho as strikers already, plus Ulloa, Slimani and Okazaki still, so somebody will have to bite the bullet and play 3rd/4th choice or leave, be it on loan or on a permanent. 2

That's the biggest issue. Even if Musa is a top player, how are we going to give him enough game time to prove that. Vardy will start every game, if fit and rightly so. Iheanacho is showing signs of becoming a very good player too and I think we should persist with giving him games. We then have Slimani, who is a different type of striker to all 3, and one who does and has scored important goals for us and is a capable plan B striker when required. I can see some value in keeping Okazaki one more season, just for the different attributes he brings, but Ulloa should definitely be leaving. We also seem best suited to a system where Vardy plays the lone striker role, which tends to get the most out of him, so we really only need 3 strikers fighting it out for that 1 spot and even then, only Vardy will get most the game time, with Iheanacho the able deputy. I think the best option is to probably pounce on this good showing in the WC and try get back as much of the transfer fee we paid for him as possible. OR... If we aren't getting decent offers, season long loan where we can assess him and delay our decision further Edited 6 July 2018 by STUHILL
Grebfromgrebland Posted 7 July 2018 Posted 7 July 2018 I always thought Musa was bought in as the Vardy backup but the problem was that Vardy always played and hardly missed a game so he never got a chance. 1

He has played 33 times for us. 21 prem appearances in his first season (2 goals). It just turns out he's not very good.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 7 July 2018 Posted 7 July 2018 Now everyone's calmed down after getting excited after he had one of his annual worldie games, can we sell the fool asap?

It works out as 21 appearances averaging 37 minutes a time. Must have been subbed off a lot for some reason that escapes me now.

Made 7 starts, subbed off on six occasions (67th min at Chelsea, 81st at home to palace, 68th at spurs, 67th at home to WBA, 71st at home to Chelsea, 45th at home to Man Utd), 14 sub appearances. Total minutes starting a game: 489. Minutes as a sub: 275 - which works out at approximately 19 minutes per sub appearance. When 2/3rds of those appearances have been short cameos, can't really say he's been given a fair crack of the whip 1

jayfox26 Posted 16 July 2018 Posted 16 July 2018 If some team is really stupid enough to bid £40m for a player we would most likely sell for £20m then happy days, snap their hand off. Really cant see it happening though. Imagine selling Mahrez for £60m and a week or 2 later we sell Musa for £40m haha 3
richardsfoxes Posted 16 July 2018 Posted 16 July 2018 Hope we don't go to jail for this because that is daylight robbery. 1
TheUltimateWinner Posted 16 July 2018 Posted 16 July 2018 If we sell him for 40M then someone deserves a knighthood. 2
Koke Posted 16 July 2018 Posted 16 July 2018 Any fee above £10m should be accepted before the buying club change their mind.
