Seen a few shots of gray and he seems to have bulked up considerably to what he was before!?

Started lifting his shorts up like Ronaldo and Sanchez, end product imminent.

We've bought a number 10 just to stick him on the wing? No chance. Maddison will be our number 10 behind the striker.

We probably will but i don't think any of the three behind Vardy will be "wingers". I see them playing more narrow and the out and out width coming from the full backs.

It's one way to accomdate Iheanacho if Maddison was playing more in line with the vertical 18 yard box line rather than the penalty spot like you would assume of a No10. I'll expect we'll see Maddison there quite a bit if Iheanacho, Vardy and Maddison are on the pitch at the same time.

I seem to recall a certain Mr Lineker doing the same one pre-season and look what happened then.

We sold him to Everton.

3-4-1-2 is the fcukin one us it really is. Maddison straight behind Vardy and Iheanacho or Gray.

Maddison playing wide = tracking back. Not sure Maddison has the pace to be able to carry the ball up the pitch either. You want Maddison on the ball in the opposition half / outside the box, not on the wings in 1 V 1 postions with full backs. If we are chasing a game I can see a situation where Maddison may play on the left to accommodate a striker(but only the last 10 mins or so)

I think it'll be quite fluid, with the wide men and 10 interchanging. So I expect to see him out there at times and for some games.

That's what happened during Puel's first few months with Gray, Albrighton and Mahrez all swapping. It caused no end of bother.

I understand that, but as a winger he will have defensive responsibilities meaning he will be having to track back. Norwich fans have warned us about Maddison on the wing, that's not where hes effective.

Think this is one of the main reason we are focusing so much on fitness. For me Puel would have carried on that style but the players were shot to pieces after a month or so so he reverted to safety tactics.

Excellent post.

I'm thinking that we may be done on recruitment this window, the only position I think we may need is another addition for a player in the three behind Vardy. If we have certain players who impress Puel in pre season he might go with what we have. His first team in his mind might be:

              Vardy

Gray Iheanacho Maddison

All three young talented players who are all about 21/22 and all with the potential and pedigree to excel this season. The back up them we have Albrighton, Okazaki, Diabate and possibly Kaputska. Albrighton and Okazaki are trusted workhorses who are proven and Diabate and Kaputska are talented and unproven but this could be make or break seasons for them at Leicester and if they step up to the plate there are opportunities to get plenty of game time.

Unless we're going to bring in a player who is a class above we may be better off keeping our money in our pockets and go with what we have. Of all the players we've been linked with in that three behind the striker only Maddison and Malcolm have really excited me so top quality or don't bother may be the agenda.

We have to play Maddison centrally to get the best out of him.

I see it more likely as:

                                                Vardy

                     Albrighton       Maddison       Gray or Daibate

And Kelechi on the bench.

Pre-Season An Opportunity To Try New Systems, Says Stowell
FIRST TEAM
Published 13 hrs 8 mins ago

Mike Stowell, Leicester City’s First Team and Goalkeeping Coach, says the Foxes are benefitting from the opportunity to experiment in pre-season.

- First Team & Goalkeeping Coach Mike Stowell evaluates Leicester City's 0-0 draw with Akhisarspor
- The Foxes faced the Turkish Super Lig side in Villach, Austria on Wednesday
- Stowell highlighted clean sheets for Danny Ward and Eldin Jakupović among the most pleasing aspects
- City will next face Udinese on Saturday before returning to the United Kingdom at the weekend

On Wednesday, City played out a 0-0 draw with Turkish Super Lig outfit Akhirsarspor in the first of two pre-season friendlies scheduled during their week-long training camp in Austria.

A total of 21 players featured for Claude Puel’s men at Stadion Villach Lind, giving the Frenchman’s senior coaching team, including Stowell, a chance to test new tactical stratagems.

Speaking to LCFC TV at full-time, among the stunning Villach scenery, Stowell said: “Pre-season is the time to try these things out.

“You don’t want to be going into Manchester United [on the 2018/19 opening day] not having tried a 4-3-3 or having not tried playing different players in different positions.

There’s people on the sidelines chomping at the bit to get on – and we need that, we need healthy competition.

Mike Stowell
“We’re getting the internationals back as well now so slowly, surely, [it’ll come together] and they’re all having a good week with us.

“Hopefully they’ll feature on Saturday [against Udinese, 2pm BST kick-off].

“We’re getting some gel time as well and a lot of the players got 60 minutes in their legs today.”

Stowell was also pleased to see goalkeepers Danny Ward, making his first appearances in a City shirt, and Eldin Jakupović keep clean sheets in their respective 45 minute run-outs.

He continued: “We changed a lot of players, mixing it around, but I’m pleased with [Ward’s] debut, he made a couple of good saves, looked solid, so that was good.

 Danny Ward
Ward's first outing for the Club was a successful one, resulting in a clean sheet.

“There’s plenty of positive points out there and mostly a lot of the lads have got 60 minutes under their belt.”

On the competition for places among Puel’s squad, Stowell expressed his delight with how the Foxes are conducting themselves in their efforts to earn first team starting XI berths.

“We brought 31 players here,” he added. “It’s unheard of to go on a pre-season camp with 31 players.

“We will be trimming it down for the next few games, we have to, but it’s good to see them all together and there’s an edge now.

“There’s people on the sidelines chomping at the bit to get on – and we need that, we need healthy competition.”

No sign of Okazaki as of yet. Is he off? Should've returned from holidays together with the others, as well.

Merc said Shinji had been given special dispensation to return next week with the England boys. No mention of why, presumably family/personal related as he would have been back even if injured.
