Not new career, but alternative career would've been Armed Forces.

Didn't realise until I was too old and knackered that they recruit what I do on civvy street. Would've loved it.

'3 stars. nice pool. breakfast was shit. would stay again'.

I would only review the 5 star places mate, that’s what they do. Free rooms, all they have to do is lie.

Come on here tonight for any last minute job interview tips as I have an interview for a career changing job tomorrow.

Done my homework, spoke to company insiders, feeling ready.

My my main concern is I have done too much research, this meaning I won't be asking the killer questions as I know the answers. Anyway sleepless night lies ahead

One key learning for me from interviews is that generally if you have an interview they know you can do the job so the interview is to get them to like you as a person.

Speak about your family, friends etc and make sure they know they can get on with you, are trustworthy and act with integrity. Unless you are going to be an estate agent then obviously forget all of that.

A potential employer should be impressed that you have done your research.  After all, an interview is a two way process.  They are assessing whether or not you would be right for the job and you are assessing whether or not the company would be right for you so don't be afraid to ask questions.

I've managed teams in my career and although I've asked lots of questions in interviews what I most looked for were the answers to the following:

1.  Does the interviewee have the ability or potential to do the job well

2.  Will the interviewee be happy to do the job

3.  Will the interviewee fit in

You can address the first question through knowledge, the second through enthusiasm and the third through personality.  Good luck.

Might seem pretty lowbrow stuff but I've already half decided in my head that if I get late 50s and I can afford it, I will be a groundsman for a couple non-league clubs or something.

Environmental Health related stuff.

Colleague of mine did 10 years in the Army as a their version of an Environmental Health Officer and loved it.

Good rank, nobody bothered him and had a blast...

It’s easy to remember the good time and forget the bad.

I'm sure it is.

And I'm not at all suggesting that it's all fun and games - far from it.

However, if I'd had the option of doing it when I was younger, I would've jumped at it.

Something that involves staying in 5 star hotels and travelling business class while getting paid for it. These blogger types that somehow get away with this shit make me sick.

No matter how good the hotels are, they're all shite. I've been gold in Hilton Honours, Starwood and Marriott. Business class was nice though, we got it took off us when we were bought out. KLM business is rubbish.

Nice, I’ve been lucky enough to

fly in business a few times. Turkish airways were fantastic, wish I could afford that all the time lol.

As a change of career I'd quite like to do physio/ sports massage. I've spent years going to the gym and getting injured requiring massage, I reckon i'd be good at it.

Problem is, your more likely to get fat old blokes with back issues.

I'm a lazy bastard student and still not really sure what I want to do, business management consulting is most likely what I'll start a career in.
