Is it? He’s gone back to the level he was playing at 3 years ago. We know he can play at League 1 level, they should have pushed for a Championship loan, even if it was only on a short term deal.

I'm sure we'd have taken that if we could, but if Scunthorpe are the only ones in for him I don't think the league will promote them just for our benefit.

 

I'd rather our players be playing league football than rotting away in the under 23 league.

Depends what the club were looking for in regards to the % of wages we wanted the club taking him on loan to pay, but for me, us paying more of his wages and sending him to a Championship club would serve his development better.

Again for that to happen someone in the championship needs to be interested, unlikely they'll take him based on the U23 league. Certainly not for a starting spot.

We managed to get Barnes and Choudhury out to Championship clubs, it seems likely to me that a young full Welsh international would have Championship interest.

Barnes had performed consistently at the league below with MK and looked too good before he got his move, Choudhury had also been on loan in league one with the team that got promoted and then loaned him back.

Had been on the verge of going Birmingham earlier this summer, but of a shame as it would have been a better league to test his progression but league one is better than a year of ultimate beaglehole in the U23's

If rumours are to be believed it was the deal between the two clubs that stopped that move, not their interest in George.

Be interested to see how he gets on, I'd expect if he bangs in a load of goals for Scunny he'll be recalled and loaned out to a Championship team.

Pointless signing, on a three year contract he won't have played for us for two of those years if on loan all season, so will ending up selling next year. I come to the conclusion that club has more money than sense when it come to the transfer market.

Having an u23 gives the club an opportunity to develop young players. We need a constant supply some will make it and some wont. Just look at the number that are performing at first team level now. George Thomas like others is worth a 3 year contract and if he doesnt make it then so be it, it wouldnt have cost the club much
