Of the seven players you mention four were already here and of the other three we got our money back on Musa, Mendy started last week and may prove to be a half decent buy yet.

Only Slimani has been a bad buy really.

I don’t think we’re still paying for it. I think we’re probably benifiting from it now to be honest. 

 

The way I see it, we were always going to **** it up. It was unprecedented, not just internally but across the division as well, we were always going to make mistakes because we had no idea of how to handle it. It was the equivalent of a child star in the media getting rich too quick and ****ing their life up a bit on the back of it. We got there in the end though, things seem to be a lot more organised now and thankfully we’ve revamped an ageing squad, sorted the balance out and we’re planning huge upgrades to our stadium and training complex. Onwards and upwards.

We need to replace Mahrez because we need someone to play at right wing.  Replacing Mahrez doesn't mean bringing in another Mahrez,  We need to replace with the best quality player we can.  Big mistake that we didn't in my opinion.

Not really.  All of our loan players have returned.  We have sold Ulloa and Musa, loaned Slim and Barnes and released Huth, but we have bought in another seven players.  Our squad is even more bloated.

Not really.  All of the signings summer 2016 were bad buys because none improved the team and it was such a missed opportunity.

Word was we couldn't afford to replace Mahrez like for like. I imagine this is down to FFP and high earners on our books we just can't get rid of.

It seems the club is learning trying to get rid of some of them now but it seems we are paying for those poor decisions. 

What are your thoughts on this? 

I've been supporting city 29 years and at the moment we are playing in the top division with a young and vibrant that has the chance to push for Europe and possibly win a cup or two. 

Maybe entitled fans or Johnny come latelys might take that for granted but personally after 20 years of terrible football in a lower leauge I don't feel like we are paying for mistakes to be in this position. In fact a few years ago I would have paid you to be in this position.

So in a nutshell wrap up Moaning and enjoy the ride I know I will.

The club obviously made errors in the summer of 2016/2017. However, we also lost our head of recruitment bang in the middle of pre-season. That can’t have helped. Some of our business since then has been very good. 

We feel we are paying the price because of the unprecedented success of 2015/2016. Take that season away and our achievements since the great escape have been very good for a team not that long ago promoted.

It’s a bit unfair to get miffed at the club for not being prepared for winning the sodding league. 

The club got there (unexpectedly) by spending a huge amount of time researching their potential signings and building step by step improvements. Then out of nowhere the clubs profile and ambitions were increased ten fold. They took a few chances because they had too, we were scouting David Mcgoldrick only the summer before.
