Every since our magnificent title win, we have made a hash of most things from poor signings, huge wage increases for players, contract renewals for fringe players, managerial appointments.

Now this seems to have been a much more positive window for us. Yet, we are still struggling to clear some of the deadwood.

Word was we couldn't afford to replace Mahrez like for like. I imagine this is down to FFP and high earners on our books we just can't get rid of.

Players like Slimani, Musa, Ulloa, James, King, Simpson, Mendy as examples. I know we have sold Musa and Ulloa, and loaned out Slimani.

It seems the club is learning trying to get rid of some of them now but it seems we are paying for those poor decisions.

What are your thoughts on this?

I think in fairness this has been done to death and is now history.

Clearly it isn't history if we're still paying for it now.. Pathetic comment!

We couldn’t replace Mahrez because he is a World class player, not that we couldn’t afford to but established world class players in their prime don’t come to Leicester title win or not. Mendy showed he has something to offer on Saturday, Simpson was first choice RB last season and will offer something very different to Pereira, it’s a squad game and whilst it ours is a bit bloated we’re trimming it down and looking better for it.

It was always going to be difficult, looking back on it. I actually think we've done OK. What you have to remember is that literally no club ever has been under the same circumstances as us. It's not like we really had anybody else to learn from. We're paying for some mistakes, but we were always going to make a few errors.

As has been said, this topic has been well-discussed, however one point I’ve not seen raised is how difficult it was to recruit that summer.

Many have commented as to how it was our golden opportunity to kick on to the next level with top signings, but we couldn’t even persuade our number 1 target for the 10 role Troy Deeney to leave Watford. The one opportunity he would have in his career to play Champions League and he turned down the possibility and signed a new contract at Watford

Much has been made about why we bought Slimani so late and for an inflated price, and my opinion is because he was well down our list of potential signings and all that was left come deadline week.

Yes we made some errors that Captain Hindsight can easily point out 2 years on, but I think it was a tougher window to negotiate than many imagine.

In my opinion yes, but I think this summer just gone is the best window we've had since it and it demonstrates, hopefully, that we are learning from our mistakes.

Fvck me, the fact this kind of comment comes up weekly you’d think we’d been immediately relegated.

Since the title win we’ve got to the quarter finals of the Champion’s League and and finished 9th the following season. So far this season we’ve had a clear and entertaining game plan and lost narrowly after bollocking Man U most the game and cruised to a 2-0 win against Wolves with ten men. Yeah we probably could have done better but realistically the best that could of came out of the last two seasons is perhaps Europa League and there’s no guarantee we can’t get it this season. I’d wait until we’re relegated or clearly on the way before we start lamenting on wasted chances.

Yes of course we have

But I think we’re starting to turn a corner now personally.

It feels like permanent Deja Vu. I feel like we’ve had this discussion over and over again.  I’ll wait until it comes around again to answer, so in a few days probably.
