No one claimed we were great, the World Cup was still a step forward compared to the past few years... we have a long way to go though to be talked about like these true top teams. The gap in quality is obvious between the two sides... if we produce two/three midfielders with quality then we could look to push on more. Defence and forwards we are good for, it is that midfield

Bang on. We shouldn't pretend that we didn't make progress in the world cup because we did. There were games in that campaign that we would have drawn in recent years. We also shouldn't pretend that we're the finished article.
