Sh-te result today.

Was hoping for one of our great come backs.

Not a great beloved fan of Puel at the moment but I'll stand by him till Christmas at least, still early doors in the league lads and lassies. Tenth is no embarrassment after 5 games.

We show promise, it's gonna click at some point. It was always gonna be difficult with 7 of the starting 11 all away at internationals last week

Lot of other fans around the country saying the same thing! There is no guarantee of that at all. For me, we play some nice possession football, without really looking that consistently dangerous in attack, whilst also looking very soft in defence! I think many are mistaking decent possession and passing, as some sort of promise of success later on... I think from what I've seen so far, it's as likely if not more so, that this is the extent of what we can expect from Puel, i.e decent possession without doing much with it.

This "it's going to click" is blind faith. I'm relatively patient but I'm getting a bit fed up of this cycle now. How many abysmal displays do we have to turn in before we realise we're still absolutely miles off where people think we're going to be?

"But he is completely transforming our style and bringing through youth, which takes time!"... Is the same thing some will be saying in 2023 and League 1

We will be ok, after all Wes won’t be playing so we could stumble onto a stronger defensive line up

If it includes Chilwell, Maguire and Pereira and they play anything like they did today - even one or two of them - then replacing Wes with Evans (who was rightly dropped for Wes after his one appearance) or Soyuncu (who's just coming back to fitness, and was awful in his international friendly a few days ago) is unlikely to be answer to our woes.

I'm sure Puel is looking at the bigger picture, and I'm good with that, but if he wants success this season they're going to have to go back to the drawing board.

Puel's got a decent idea for the bigger picture, but his actual game to game management is seriously lacking and it's in real danger of costing him his job.

He's the most frustrating manager I can remember. He's got a lot going for him but he shoots himself in the foot time and time again.

I'm still just about in favour of Puel but if he goes 4-2-3-1 again with Ricardo and Chilwell as FBs then that might change. It's probably a blessing in disguise that he's been forced to pick a team with no Wes in it. We absolutely have to tighten up at the back.

I think you have a valid point.  But hopefully Puel puts things right over the next few games.

The manner of yesterday’s defeat was worrying, we looked absolutely hopeless at times, Bournemouth should have probably been even further ahead. Puel seems to be experimenting with things and I don’t think he will ever change. I think against any well drilled established premier league side we will be easily beaten, there’s still an imbalance in the side, and yesterday’s game really showed it up. I don’t trust Puel at all to get it right, I fear things are going to get far, far worse before things ‘click’.

Of course he will.  4-2-3-1 with attacking full backs is Puel's way.

4-2-3-1 is the most used formation in Engish football (27%).  We're just not very good at it.

Hardly a battering. First half stats.... Nothing between the sides in general play, we just forgot how to defend

That's what I'm worried about. Continuing with the same system but expecting a different result.

For more information on where this gets you see Shakespeare, Craig and Ranieri, Claudio.

Wow, just wow.

If you ever needed to prove a point how pointless stats are....

Our record reflects the average mid table side we are. They'll be times when we win three in a row and then lose two in a row - inconsistency is what separates a mid table side from a top side. Will there be games later in the season where we ship three or four? Yeah, no doubt about it.

Stats mean **** all, they’re numbers. The reality is Bournemouth we’re clmfotable throughout and we’re the better side. We scored two late goals once the game was all but over. It was a very, very poor showing. Plus forgetting how to defend is becoming a regular thing, it’s not really ideal is it?

We have a left back and a right back both great going forward but not so hot defensively. We leak goals. We have the personnel to go three at the back with wing backs and when forced into doing it have looked okay. We also have an isolated striker problem and two defensive midfielders who are not so great going forward with the ball. I think we have some really good players. It’d be great to get a manager that could see how we might use them to create chances. We’ll be mid-table mediocrity until he’s gone.
