Penalty seen less clear cut ones given

Yeah the penalty we had against Newcastle was less clear cut for example. There was barely any space between the shot and Yedlin then.

On this occasion there was an age.

Would have been a bookable offence on ‘the letter of the law’

Just more to argue the use of VAR.

It’s an argument to get clearer rules on handball.

Var could have the same outcome if they saw the angle I saw last night in slow motion it’s clear he only hits the ball because of Ndidi. All this talk of unnatural positions is just nonsense. 2 players are competing for a header both use there arms to jump, Ndidi puts his arm on Holding what’s natural or unnatural in that situation. Nobody jumps like a penguin when challenging for the ball because you would lose every header.

To me it looks like a perfectly normal duel until Wilf makes contact and forces Holding’s hand up and towards the ball. The slow mo I saw last nights guy made it really clear Holdings arm was coming down before bouncing off Wilf’s head. Give a penalty for dangerous play but not handball when your hand has been knocked onto the ball by the opposition player.

Yedlin raised his arms for no reason he wasn’t challenging for a header he was jumping in front of a shot you don’t nee to have your hands up in that situation. That is unnatural position.

They don't jump like they are dancing to a early 00's dance song by Trevor and Simon either.

I saw that too.

He shouldn't have had his hand up there in that position. The ball was there for Wilf to head it, what is wilf supposed to do? Not go for the ball.

I've seen a lot of handballs in my life and that was worse than more than half of those given.

Wilf is entitled to go for the ball he doesn’t do anything wrong but in challenging for the ball, one he was second favourite to win, he knocked Holding’s arm onto the ball. Just a footballing incident no more, not a pen definitely not a second yellow and not an excuse for losing.

I agree it wasn't a penalty, people saying that isn't a natural position have probably never played a game in their lives. It's not a "natural" position to jump like a sardine to win the ball

What’s with the odd jumping analogies? Are sardines famed for their jumping or something? Souness said something similarly odd last night too, “jumping like a badger” or something like that. Wish I could remember precisely what it was but it struck me as odd at the time. ?

An absolute disgrace of a decision. Not a chance do Arsenal not get that. He's either corrupt or hasn't got the mentality to officiate at this level. I'd assume the latter.

Look at everyone jumping for the ball in that clip everyone uses their arms to jump, we’re not penguins. Look at Wilf’s right arm it’s as high as Holdings. You use your arms for leverage. If Wilf wasn’t there he would have brought his right arm down the same way he did his left.

They all jump with their arms but only Holding hits the ball with his arm. Penalty.

Well there you go, I’ve lived a sheltered life and have never given the Sardine the credit it truly deserves. I feel like a f****in’ a**h**e now.

It'll get worse when Souness rocks up in here with a Badger video pal.

Fyi this ‘unnatural position’ phrase that’s been trotted out because Danny Murphy uses it on MOTD is bullshit.

Its not in the FA rules whatsoever in terms of handball.

This is the problem with the rules, there’s the rules and then there are the guidelines which are given to refs on how to interpret rules. These seem to be shrouded in secrecy and subject to the whim of the refs association. It used to be “deliberate” if the hand was moving towards the ball, now it is an “unnatural position”. The actual law agrees with me:

HANDLING THE BALL

Handling the ball involves a deliberate act of a player making contact with the ball with the hand or arm.

There is no way it was deliberate his arm was moving away from the ball before hitting Ndidi.

The unnatural position is a directive and not an actual law.

I’ve seen so many people moaning about us not getting a penalty. Watch it back Holding jumps for the ball and Wilf heads his hand into the ball it’s not a penalty. You can’t headbutt someone’s arm onto the ball and claim a penalty. I saw it on my stream and the pundits on my American stream said the same thing, no penalty. No idea what the sky pundits said. Can’t find a decent video of it but please post one to prove me wrong.

Don’t get me wrong I wish he’d given it, but you can’t blame the ref.

That’s weird. I am in the states at the moment and watched it live on NBC. The commentators were up in arms (no pun intended!) about the incident, saying definite penalty and questioning the credibility of the ref. Were they saying he’s just worked up from Championship matches?

They also had a lot of praise for Leicester both before and after the match. Said we pushed Arsenal the most out of any non top 6 side. Said the factors which saw us lose were simply lack of penalty, lack of second yellow and also Ozil. They were gushing over James Maddison, seemed to see him as the messiah.

Was quite nice balanced commentary actually - made a pleasant change

So frustrating getting ref-shafted in an Arsenal game yet again again. How that has gone unnoticed from the ref is really mindblowing. The way we keep getting these rather harsh yellow-reds does not help on the ref hate either. Consistency, clear rules and VAR ASAP please!
